I’ve never made $4 million over a lifetime, much less having that to lose.
I have no sympathy for the mother. Should have learned he was a bum years ago. She didn’t, and she will give him more.
As I get older, losing money in stock market makes more depressed. In 1974, At age 34, I lost $50,000 in Avnet company stock, which was almost all of my savings. I was depressed, got over it in just 3 months and began building new investment capital.
However when my 5000 shares in Avnet would have been worth $350,000, just 2 years later in 1976, then depression hit me harder.
But I learned my lesson of never buying individual stocks on margin. Have done Okay since then.
