Plastic tarp over the trap, into the trashcan full of water. There is no skunk shortage.
My neighbor does that to groundhogs. He ties a rope to the trap and drops it in the creek for a few minutes. I’m a softy. I can’t hurt any living thing unless it’s trying to hurt me. The tarp would work until the fish and game guy got here with a skunk trap.
