Hamas didn’t invade Israel on Oct. 7 for its amusement. The barbaric sneak attack is a part of the pogrom intended to wipe out the Jewish state. It was a crime against humanity, and not just because of its savagery. We would all be worse off if Israel ceased to exist. The same cannot be said for Islamic terrorists.
Israel’s contributions to the modern world are momentous. When not dodging bullets, rockets, and homicide bombers, Israelis have since 1948 developed:
- Copaxone and Rebif, drugs that treat multiple sclerosis, and Exelon, which treats mild to moderate dementia in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s patients.
- The PillCam, “a minimally invasive ingestible camera in a capsule that allows visualization of the small bowel.”
- The water desalination process.
- The Sniffphone, “that can actually ‘sniff out’ diseases.”
- And SpineAssist, “the first-ever spine robot” that has the “ability to provide real-time intraoperative navigation.”
The Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, responsible for some of the inventions listed above, has also produced diabetes and flu vaccines, is using T-cells to treat damaged spines, and is a pioneer in industrial — and medical — uses nano materials.
Other impactful Israeli products include drip irrigation, a revolutionary microprocessor called the 8088, the NIR heart stent, voice-over-internet protocol, the USB flash drive, the Waze navigation app, ReWalk, “a commercial bionic walking assistance system,” and “the first commercially viable firewall software.”
Our own security has benefited from Israel’s labor and work ethic.
“Many Israeli innovations are present in upgrades to U.S. Air Force fighters and Army equipment,” says the international law firm Smith, Gambrell & Russell. One important advance in particular is the helmet-mounted display system for the new F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.
So we have a country of 9.23 million, mostly desert, that is only 75 years old, is “surrounded by enemies” and in a constant state of war, which has “no natural resources,” yet “produces more start-up companies on a per capita basis than large, peaceful, and stable nations and regions like Japan, China, India, Korea, Canada, and all of Europe.” It is the only nation outside of the U.S. that Warren Buffet invests in.
Have the Palestinians or Hamas, currently at war with Israel, done anything that compares to what the Israelis have achieved? More broadly, beyond the Allahista terrorist groups, what has Islam contributed to the modern world?
Not much....
I prefer to imagine a world without jihadists.
but other than all those things, what have the jews done for us...
exactly.

I thought Biden ‘developed’ that one?

Imagine a world without muslims.
True that.
When you think about it, look how many terror attacks and airplane hijackings over the decades have been muslim.
Heck it goes all the way back to the crusades.
Muslims are responsible for a disproportionate share of evil and mayhem in this world.
Israel isn’t a country, it’s a lifeboat for the Jewish people.
For nearly 2000 years the Jews had been being kicked from pillar to post, perpetually subjected to all sorts of persecutions from expulsions to inquisitions to pogroms. As the modern era approached and mass communications came to be, these attacks grew more widespread and better coordinated.
The wider world has no excuse for ignoring what was happening to the Jews in Europe in the run-up to WWII. The United States in particular had been well-aware of the existential threat they faced since even before the 1938 Evian Conference (which was an opportunity the wider world — to include the US — willfully squandered).
After the war, the horrors revealed in the Nazi extermination camps made it clear to any rational individual that the world had forsaken a basic humanitarian duty and could not be trusted to act to prevent the extermination of the Jews. That their only hope for survival was to take it on themselves to secure their Zion, and by any means at their disposal, as a Jewish homeland that they could rule and control in its totality.
Their God gave them the opportunity and the ability to seize that land. Whether you believe in miracles or not, you have to find it somewhat miraculous that the Zion they secured was the same one they had been expelled from two millennia previous.
Israel is the last best chance for the survival of the Jewish peoples. If they don’t survive, if they can’t flourish there, then they are done for. Which is why I argue that Israel isn’t a country, it’s the lifeboat for the Jews.
And it is America’s sacred obligation to aid them in keeping that boat afloat. Because if we don’t, neither history nor God will forgive us.
don’t forget the wine
Eloquent and historically accurate. Well-done.
Islam is an evil death cult!
Moslems have been at war with the rest of the world since 622 AD!
Sunni and Shia Moslems have engaged in the longest running “Hatfield and McCoy” feud since Mohammed died in 632 AD!
They still cannot agree on who the REAL successor to Mohammed is, so they fight and kill each other.
Oh, Sunni and Shia ALSO fight other Islamic sects for supremacy.
You get the picture — Moslems like to kill — Infidels and other Moslems!
Here is the bottom line:
Know Islam, No Peace!
No Islam, Know Peace!
Well done!
Taxman Bravo Zulu!
Imagine what the world would be like today if the Roman emperor Flavius Heraclius Augustus had invaded Arabia in AD 630 and burned down Mecca and Medina.
.
I agree that the pogroms and treatment of the Jewish people in primarily eastern Europe and Russia in the late 1800’s early 1900’s was terrible. It wasn’t the Arabs who treated them badly.
Unfortunately, they decided that they needed to treat the Arabs in the Levant the same way as they had been treated in Europe.
Without Israel, the Jewish people would be able to exist fine in the US, Great Britain, Canada, etc....any civilized country in 2023. The ONLY place that they would have any trouble at all is smack dab in the middle of the medieval Muslims.
Where is the lifeboat for the Irish? Or the Scotts? Who are we allowed to massacre to protect it?
Imagine a world without the US.
Maybe if the Islamic world would try to concentrate on not killing most everyone in sight, they too could contribute something worthwhile to the world. I knew the Israelis had contributed quite a bit but was rather astonished to learn how much. I have to wonder how much more they might have accomplished if they were not so busy defending themselves. There are good reasons for defending them.
