Cinema is all about audience manipulation. Much of QT’s violence is created with editing. As you never see the knlfe touch Janet Leigh in the shower scene of “Psycho,” much of what is in (good) movies is created in the mind of the audience. Perhaps that is the origin of Flavious Maximus’ s perception, for what he claims is in the movies appears nowhere, visually, or in dialogue.
Not entirely true, considering a scene in Pulp Fiction that is “pretty f——n’ far from ok”. However, I don’t recall anything else, even implied.
It must be the most under displayed obsession ever.
“The Dark Backwards”
Well...the two (white) freaks sodomizing a black man, and presumably intending to sodomize a white man afterward, is pretty ****ing far from what FM described. Say what you will about QT, he’s not about gratuitous sex, of any stripe.
We agree; QT is not.
But if you don’t consider that rape (the exact word FM used) you need to read a dictionary.
Split however many more hairs as you wish. This is now past pointless.
It was the use of the word “obsessed” that I took issue with.
I could not agree more. “The Thing”(1982) should be on the list of the 50 BEST movies.
“The Happening” was so bad, it made the 50 Worst list twice.
I don’t know about that. I really liked “Seven.” Maybe because her head ended up in a box.
I was afraid, until I saw the list, that the Original The Thing (1951) was on the list, an example of the Creature Feature done right.

Agree with you, Jim! My dad and I walked about 8 blocks to the closest theater when I was 8 y/o SciFi fan to see The Thing. From that time until several weeks later, I couldn’t stand to be in a room at home without having my back against something, (bed, wall, sofa, etc.), and couldn’t bear having a closet door ajar and not tightly closed.
Raising Arizona? I wouldn’t call it stupid.
It was a low budget TV movie. Extremely well done.
The Villain. Ahnold’s first non documentary if I recall. Love Raising Arizona, which also has its cartoon moments.
Yes, I know ... very late reply.
I stopped interaction and reading when it became pointless.
However, upon today's inadvertent review, there is a point that still exists: if you don't like the word "obsessed", then try to take it up with the person who used it. That would be in post #60. I was contending QT isn't.
NOW this is pointless again!
Merry Christmas!!!
