That Biker Blowed Up Real Good!

The look on Tex Cobb's face when he realized that Nicholas Cage had pulled the pin on the grenade was classic.

Except for the Twilight movies (I think I say at least part of one of those) Ive seen almost all of them. Not all entirely bad at all, and certainly not as bad as some peoples idea of best.

Its like the threads related to music and so many other things, sometimes something spectacularly bad seems to resonate with a group within a generation and if that group has a large enough tantrum about how good that thing is then everyone else just backs off.

I’d nominate “Barbie”. Still haven’t figured out the point of that waste of celluloid.

Most Sci-Fi’s could be on this list.

They need to add Apocalypto to that list. At the end of the movie, one old guy in the theater let out a heavy sigh and a audible grunt. I stopped for a bio break on the way out, and one guy asked his friend: “what in the hell did we just watch?”

IIRC we had this type of thread a decade or so ago here on FR. Anyways I think I posted the worst I ever saw was a Frank Zappa thing called 200 Motels. Someone responded it’s not really fair to lump it in with other movies since it was shot on video tape rather than regular film. Well I saw it in a retro movie house and it was the first part of a double header so the audience was kind of trapped if they wanted to watch the second one. When it was over there were applause but they weren’t because the crowd liked it.

“Pai Zadora in The Lonely Lady”

Pia Zadora was one of my fantasies as a budding teen. When they started showing her movies after we finally got cable installed? Well, let’s just say I had quite a few late-night viewings after mom and dad went to bed.

Didn’t see it, but from what I’ve read about it, it sounds like you aren’t woke enough to fully appreciate it.

The only thing worse than The Day After Tomorrow would be a Day After Tomorrow - 2012 double feature.

I despise anything from Quentin Tarantino.

Quentin Tarantino doesn't make movies; he makes collections of scenes.

"Duel is a masterpiece."

I agree. Guess the problem is that it had no CGI or special effects. Just 2 vehicles on the road that culminates into the ultimate road rage. The narration by Weaver? made the movie. He went from curiosity to competition (I'll just out run the truck) to fear to absolute terror to resignation to a hail mary. It jumped started Spielberg's career. It was very suspenseful at the time.

"Quentin Tarantino doesn't make movies; he makes collections of scenes."

I would agree, and that is why he is the most original writer, producer, director, story-teller of modern cinema. He broke the mold. I even enjoyed his recent "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood". It was genius for him to take certain headlines of the day and does a switcheroo.

It was a little long and some slow scenes should have been eliminated, but a charming simpleton stunt man kicking the shit out of the arrogant Bruce Lee character (Karate was a big deal in that era), and then the ending with the Manson family was brilliant. Plus, I bought into the friendship between Di Caprio and Brad Pitt. Question: Who narrated throughout the movie?

Pulp Fiction is not for the faint of heart, but the way he brought all the story-lines and characters together was a mind-frig. It did confuse some people as he jumped from one story to another. I got. Great film.

Remember Desperado? Although his buddy Robert Rodriquez was the main producer of that film, I've often asked people how was that concept pitched to a studio? Okay movie mogul, it goes like this: Two really bad brothers are bank robbers, kill a Sheriff with a shootout at the same quick stop, kidnap an average bank teller, one brother rapes and kills her, then they commandeer a family's RV and kidnap the family. But here's the twist, the brothers and the family spend the rest of the movie fighting off Vampires at a sleezy bar.

Would da you think Mr. Mayers? Oh, and the brothers are played by Quentin Tarantino and George Clooney.

Get the frig out of my office!!
