It is some sort of special music. 430 HTZ or something like that. Although a nice recording of a rain storm also works for me.

[[I had a long reply typed for you and my browser cleared it all.]]

I hate when that happens- I’ve typed pages of things before and had the computer crash back in the day- not fun—

[[I also have severe neuropathy in my lower legs. The burning, stinging symptoms prevent me from getting to sleep.]]

It’s for my folks- but I have those issues with he neuropathy too- got restless leg syndrome too- It feels like a dozen or so small needles sticking into my feet and legs- yet my feet have little feeling now, ie i can step on a pebble and not feel it-

I’ll look into that GABA- Thanks for the suggestion

Actually, this guy, while a musician, doesn’t use music, but instead uses rhythm. And it only takes a few minutes just before bedtime.

There are two main types: fingertip clamp-on to get a single reading (like used in the doctor’s office) and recording where you can wear the device overnight. For recording, there are a couple of good miniaturized ones that fit on your index finger or thumb. There are others where you wear a wrist watch size gadget on your wrist that connects by a wire to a finger tip measuring instrument.

I went with the ring concept recorder. I bought the “O2 Ring” on Amazon.
https://getwellue.com/pages/o2ring-oxygen-monitor

I’ve read good reviews of the “Oura” ring, too.
https://ouraring.com/

The “O2 Ring” is a soft gray rubber that our dog thinks is a chew toy for him if I accidentally drop it on the ground. That destroyed it.

Being so small and compact, it’s rechargeable battery lasts two nights so you have to charge it every day. Also, the memory holds three nights of data, so you need to download the data at least every third day. If you don’t, the ring overwrites the oldest days data. That way you always have the most recent three days data. The company makes a good mobile app and a pretty good computer app, too. They sell cloud storage for the data, but I download to my phone and computer. These are two separate, unrelated download actions.both are easy to do and fast. It’s a Chinese company, so I did not buy their cloud storage.

Are these a panacea? No. Do they fix sleep problems? No. But they DO give a very good indication of how severe your problem is and whether steps you are taking are improving your sleep.

Just be prepared to charge the ring daily and download the data every three days if you want to preserve all your data. So a tiny bit of work is required. For me, daily is less than a minute to charge it and download data to the mobile app. Every third day I’d 5-10 minutes to download the data to my computer. I use their app on my Mac to also save csv files and pdf files whenever I download the data.

That was happening to me too, and I fi ally figured out it was because I drank water right before bedtime- efen a 1/2 glass would have me up a couple times- I noticed however that I could drink a can of soda before bedtime and be fine, or juice, but as soon as I drank any water, it meant bathroom visits.

Lol on the exercise while sleeping. I used to worry that i might dream that I had gotten up to use the bathroom only to find out I hasn’t and wet the bed lol- never did though, so the body was trained well enough to know the difference I guess lol

Thanks- I’m gonna listen to it in a few minutes- hopefully it will be something my folks can use- their sleeplessness has been going on for about a decade now- every once in awhile they will be so exhausted by lack of sleep that they crash for the whole night, but those are far too rare unfortunately. Docs around here are too afraid to issue sleeping medicine, and keep trying to encourage them to use natural products, but we have tried a great many of them to no avail- only the cbd with no thc in it does anything even remotely helpful- but it’s not nearly enough and it’s expensive- I’m c9nvinced that if they could get good sleep for just a week, things would improve dramatically strength wise.

Ah thanks- I see that there are also which can be used to create different “color” noise, or sounds, to help relax the mind. They have a ton of different sounds too- im g9nna have folks give that a try tonight, see if it makes any difference- thanks for the suggestion.

Me too! I’ve always eaten just 2 meals a day, no snacks between meals. I would have a brunch instead of breakfast or lunch, and then a small meal at night (something like 6 ounce steak, maybe some fries or potato- or a chop and carrots or something like that).

When I was working, I noticed that trying to eat three times a day made me feel more tired and just slowed me down around 1 pm or so- so I cut back to 2 meals again, and felt much better

For 40 years I kept weight at 175- but these days I’ve added snacks at night, and dont work now, which has caused weight to go up to 195. Felt much better at 175

I will skip the water : )
I drink it to wash the soda sugar off the teeth after I drink a sip of soda.

#88 Thanks for the links. The “Oura” ring is very expensive. It looks cool like the ring in The Lord of the Rings.

If the CPAP is the automatic type that adjusts its pressure, breathe exclusively through the mouth eight times, then through the machine (use “nose pillows”, not an over-the-face mask). This tricks the machine into increasing the pressure - which can help with sleep.

A different trick that does not work as reliably is to resist the pressure just a little bit as you breathe in, then breath out a bit more quickly. You may get a little breathless this way, so sometimes it feels like it is more trouble than it is worth. The goal is to trick the machine into increasing the pressure a little bit.

(YMMV: Your mileage may vary.)

Could surgery be an option?

(There are operations to adjust the turbines within the nose, correct deviated septums, and so on. Random example, not an advertisement - https://www.healthline.com/health/turbinate-hypertrophy)
