Taylor Swift has postponed a concert she was due to perform in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday, after a fan died shortly before her show on Friday.

The decision came as thousands of people were already at the stadium as part of her record-breaking Eras tour.

Posting on Instagram, Swift said: "The safety and well-being of my fans, fellow performers and crew has to and always will come first."

Brazil is experiencing an unprecedented heatwave, triggering health alerts.

Authorities warned of the danger to life as temperatures in Rio reached 39.1C on Friday.

The US pop star's show on Monday will still go ahead.

Her demographic seems to be enthralled [addicted] with obtaining as many “boo$ter$” as possible.

Oh for Christ Sakes!

What is this bizarre obsession with this young lady who happens to be an entertainer?

I couldn’t guess what one of her songs are, or what she sounds like, but I sure can guess the global obsession with her will lead to her, and all those dear to her, ending in a flaming nose-dive crash.
A tragedy in the making, and hundreds of millions are contributing.

When President Reagan passed away, I decided that I wanted to go to D.C. and pay my respects. On the night before the funeral I stood in line for almost 9 hours to go through the rotunda at the Capitol.

The temperature at about 1 or 2 a.m. was easily around 90 degrees. Park Service was handing out PLENTY of bottles of water.

The ones who waited in daytime to pass by the casket, definitely had my respect.

I couldn’t name any of Taylor Swift’s songs either. But she seems to stay out of trouble. And to my knowledge, she doesn’t make know-it-all political statements.

So I’ll give her that.

Aw, crap. I have to amend my post #7. Taylor Swift evidently jumped into politics, and endorsed Joe Biden in 2020.

Every generation has its obsession with pop culture celebrities. Elvis, the Beatles, Frank Sinatra and on and on. You can choose to ignore her, but she's not going away until her replacement comes along.

She sold her soul to the devil. The only reason I can figure out why she’s popular. I listen to a couple of her songs, and I don’t get the attraction.

Age will take care of Taylor Swift. You can run but you can’t hide from time. We are all just passing through. I heard her referred to as a country singer. I thought it was funny. Country music died with George Jones. Maybe she wants to be in Kansas City for the Chiefs Eagles game Monday night. WGAF

She didn’t sell her soul to the devil. Robert Johnson did and his music is a hell of a lot better than hers. IMO 😎

Robert Johnson didn’t do that.

More likely Swift did, actually, if either did.

And yeah, Robert Johnson’s music is way better.

And our souls aren’t ours to sell.

Am I the only one that remembers the days when she had a HUGE group of haters and was rated almost a second class performer. Then she opened he mouth about Trump, getting on the hate Trump bandwagon in a major way. All the haters seemed to go away and now she’s an absolute darling of the week minded.

Many years ago I lived and worked in DC renovating what was at the time The Shoreham Hotel.

This was in ‘74, about the time of the Watergate hearings.

I remember it being hot and muggy.

The whole city was built over a swamp.
They never drained it really.

Trump tired.

She seems so concerned that it could've happened again right then and there as though lightning could've struck twice just like that. Whatever happened to "The show must go on"? Are we all just a bunch of children now or what?...Oh wait, that's right....

She was just keeping it “safe and effective” as well as keeping it real.

Everybody dies from cardiac arrest.

That’s why we didn’t used to put it on death certificates as the immediate cause of death.
