Palestinian Terror is not new—-nearly the 50th anniversary of the attack on Pan Am flight 707

December 17, 1973: Five terrorists pulled weapons from their luggage in the terminal lounge at the Rome airport, killing two persons. They then attacked a Pan American 707 bound for Beirut and Tehran, destroying it with incendiary grenades and killing 29 persons, including 4 senior Moroccan officials and 14 American employees of ARAMCO. They then herded 5 Italian hostages into a Lufthansa airliner and killed an Italian customs agent as he tried to escape, after which they forced the pilot to fly to Beirut. After Lebanese authorities refused to let the plane land, it landed in Athens, where the terrorists demanded the release of 2 Arab terrorists. In order to make Greek authorities comply with their demands, the terrorists killed a hostage and threw his body onto the tarmac. The plane then flew to Damascus, where it stopped for two hours to obtain fuel and food. It then flew to Kuwait, where the terrorists released their hostages in return for passage to an unknown destination. The Palestine Liberation Organization disavowed the attack, and no group claimed responsibility for it.

I had forgotten the awful and somewhat senseless terror attacks on Pan AM Flight 707 (and more) –Dec 17, 1973 almost exactly 1/2 century ago! I was a lad at the time.

If I recall they were all Palestinians and the bastards threw incendiary grenades into the cabin of a full flight of men, women and children sitting on the runway:

The USS Liberty incident was an attack on a United States Navy technical research ship, USS Liberty, by Israeli Air Force jet fighter aircraft and Israeli Navy motor torpedo boats, on 8 June 1967.
The attack killed 34 and injured 171 Americans.

Three years later they thought it would be a good idea to hijack another flight and land it in Entebbe.

It was Pan Am Flight 110 that was destroyed, and Lufthansa Flight 303 that was then highjacked to the Mideast. 707 refers to the model number of the Pan Am aircraft.

USS Liberty problem was settled decades ago. Yet there are those who like to stir old s**t and make it stink again.

No one wants to remember the USS Cole bombed by moslems. Sudan did pay reparations for that.

Thanks for the correction.

I thought it was a coincidence.

A great airline already in a bit of a downward spiral and this killed it off for good.

The last flight I ever had that I’d call “good” was on Pan Am.

It was not a civilian airliner and it was in a war zone.

Thanks, I was wondering what the flight number was. There was a Nicaraguan Sandinista who was also involved in palestinian hijackings at one point. I think there was a female one too. Not sure how many Sandinistas trained in the Middle East but some did.

Weird how antisemites instantly trigger on anything involving hijackings and think “Israel!” and about a ship that has nothing whatsoever to do with hijackings when all normal people just think “hijackers!”

It’s like dozing off in front of the TV when a commercial comes on advertising pizza. Normal people get a sudden craving for pizza. Sock Puppet gets a sudden urge to vandalize a synagogue.

“Sirhan Sirhan, the supposed assassin of RFK was a palestinian immigrant.”

George Plimpton and Rosey Grier grabbed the gun from Sirhan’s hand. How’s that get explained away by the “supposed assassin” conspiracy theorists?

There’s nothing too convoluted and ridiculous for conspiracy theorists to believe.
