Newly elected City Councilwoman Kristy Marmorato says it won’t be easy being the first Bronx Republican to hold a City Council seat in 50 years - but she vowed to stand for conservative values like education and public safety while even working with the likes of AOC.
“It’s tough being a Republican in The Bronx,” she told The Post Wednesday. “I listened to people and they appreciated that.”
The 45-year-old health care worker said that high on her list of priorities are school choice, strengthening the NYPD and stopping a controversial halfway house in her north Bronx district.
She recognized she will have to work across the aisle - saying that even though she is the “polar opposite” of Socialist Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, she would like to meet her to talk about issues as their districts partially overlap. That is if she can find her.
“I have never seen her in the community, actually,” she told The Post. “I think she needs to show more of a presence. We have an entire community that overlaps with each other. We have to make the constituents happy.
“I hope to address issues of the community she may not be aware of and give her a different viewpoint. We’re polar opposites with some of our viewpoints. But that’s ok. I want to see her more accessible to people in the community.”
The latest Board of Elections results show Marmorato beating incumbent Democrat Marjorie Velazquez by more than 700 votes - a margin of 52% to 46%.
The district covers Throggs Neck, Allerton, Morris Park, Pelham Parkway and City Island, which, like the rest of the northernmost borough, has been a Democratic stronghold for decades.
“I brought faith back into the voting system, my community,” Marmorato said. “Their voices were heard.

She’ll try to work with AOC?? Yeah, right. It would be like a death camp Jew trying to work with Hitler.
“She’s already lost. The minute a conservative tries to work across the aisle”
In politics you have to say stuff like that especially when you are the only Republican in the Bronx.
Of course, you’re right. But Conservatives have been routinely betrayed, cheated and exploited by people who razzle dazzle voters while campaigning, then give us the bum’s rush, once in office
We’re conditioned to expect the disappointment. Personally, I’ve been looking at Republican politicians long enough to know it’s not a matter of ‘if’ we’ll be let down, but rather, ‘when’. McCarthy is the most recent and dramatic example of this kind of thing. As the saying goes, ‘you gotta dance with the one that brought you.’
Frankly, it’s the reason I support Trump so steadfastly. SO far, I do not see that he has ever reneged on publicly stated views, goals or policies.
The Republican said she would like to meet AOC to
talk about issues, as their districts partially overlap.
That is “if” she can find her. “I have never seen her in the community,”
Marmorato told The Post. “She needs to show more of a presence.”
We have to make the constituents happy.

Although it’s good news a republican was elected, she’s buying into to lie that being happy is more important than doing what’s right.
That the word, “AOC” came out of her mouth is a sure sign of RINOism.
I prefer to look at her full quotes...
No kidding.
She doesn’t have any Republicans to work with. To get anything done, she will need to have to work with the other side on some things.
What is happening in New York?
Should I be frightened?
First, Republicans winning Congressional elections in Long Island.
Now, a Republican wins a Council seat from the Bronx!
“The minute a conservative tries to work across the aisle she is already outrun and outgunned.”
She’ll soon be “un-armed”... They quickly chop off the arm that “reaches across the aisle”.
“To get anything done, she will need to have to work with the other side on some things.”
And then we’re back to compromise. And liberals don’t compromise. So if she pushes the issue on anything, they will cut her off. End of crusade. And if they don’t cut her, they will use her like a bad prostitute.

“They quickly chop off the arm that “reaches across the aisle”.”
And then toss it around to use to embarrass the conservative party down the road.

TR was not a Conservative. His hatred for Conservatism was such that he sabotaged President Taft’s reelection to foist the Marxist Wilson on America. Warren Harding, conversely, was a great Conservative President. Cut spending, cut taxes, cut government and unleashed the prosperity of the 1920s that was in the doldrums under Wilson. No GOP President in 100 years since has achieved that (not Reagan or Trump).
She was elected by folks wanting change and she capitulates to AOC . The pubbies are the roll over party.
You said what I was going to say.
Marmorato should take a look at what Nikki Fried did in Florida. She was the lone Democrat holding statewide office (agriculture commissioner). Did she say she would work with Republicans? No, she used her position to bash DeSantis at every opportunity she got and pushed for Democrat agenda items that were within her departmental jurisdiction.
Fried knew she was behind enemy lines and did her best to tarnish DeSantis because the Democrats knew he was a rising star in the Republican party. She even gave the keynote address at the DNC convention in 2020.
That's how it's done when your constituents vote for change (except that Floridians didn't know what they were getting with Fried, who ran on a platform of medical marijuana).
Bronx voters didn't pick Marmorato for her to immediately say she would work with the other side. If that's what the voters wanted, they'd have chosen another Democrat.

Roosevelt was the first of the people, not party, presidents that have been attacked for not being a conservative party worshipper. He didn’t agree with the business as usual effort. He wanted change. He was very popular with the people vote in the primaries:
What was afoot in Chicago failed to reflect the party’s true spirit, Roosevelt argued. Taft’s poor showing in the primaries — which were held for the first time — indicated that most Republicans preferred T.R.’s progressive platform over his rival’s more conservative approach.
All in all, La Follette won 36 primary delegates, Taft 48 and Roosevelt 278. However, 36 of the 48 states did not hold primaries; their delegates were chosen at statewide conventions, where, for the most part, the GOP “regulars” favored Taft.
“His hatred for Conservatism was such that he sabotaged President Taft’s reelection to foist the Marxist Wilson on America.”
As the convention opened, the Roosevelt and Taft forces appeared to be evenly matched. A battle over delegate credentials ensued, with Taft emerging victorious, and Roosevelt claiming that several delegations had been fraudulently seated.
“No GOP President in 100 years since has achieved that (not Reagan or Trump).”
You may want to look up Trump’s economy swing and check to see how he did it.
Trump in may ways a lot like Roosevelt. He hated the liberal party and he strongly dislike the lameness of the conservatives. He wanted improvement and not just business as usual. And for that his own party went after him. That was why Roosevelt left them and was approached by a third party and made president by the people. Same thing with Trump only he stayed to repair the party and Roosevelt left it. And you can see how Trump was treated by his own party for staying.
Roosevelt’s ideas for the party were so good he was voted in for his ideas as a third party. In all realities, so was Trump.
