Day 622 of the russian full-scale military aggression against Ukraine continues.
The russian federation continues to wage a war of aggression. Despite significant losses, it does not abandon its plans for complete occupation of Ukraine.
The enemy continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, strikes and shells both military and civilian targets, which unfortunately results in civilian casualties.
The operational situation in east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.
During the day of November 7, there were 36 combat engagements.
The enemy launched a total of 3 missile and 35 air strikes, 30 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the attacks have wounded civilians. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed or damaged.
VOLYN and POLISSYA Axis: no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.
SIVERSHCHYNA and SLOBOZHANSHCHYNA AXIS axes: the adversary maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. Around 20 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Senkivka, Bleshnya, Karpovychi, Hremyach (Chernihiv oblast), Simeikyne, Iskryskivshchyna, Basivka, Hrabovske, Popivka, Velyka Pysarivka (Sumy oblast).
KUPYANSK AXIS: the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault operations in the vicinities of Synkivka, Ivanivka, Berestove (Kharkiv oblast). The Ukrainian defenders repelled 5 attacks in the area. Also, the adversary launched air strikes near the settlements of Petropavlivka, Pishchane, Proletarske (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).
LYMAN AXIS: the invaders launched air strikes in the vicinities of Serebryanske forestry, Riznykivka, Spirne, Rozdolivka (Donetsk oblast). The occupiers fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Torske, Serebryanka, Verkhniokamyanske, Spirne, Rozdolivka (Donetsk oblast).
BAKHMUT AXIS: the invaders conducted assaults near Bohdanivka, Klishchiyivka and Andriyivka (Donetsk oblast), to no success. The occupiers launched an air strike in the vicinity of Klishchiyivka. More than 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Markove, Bakhmut, Chasiv Yar, Klishchiyivka, Kurdyumivka, New York (Donetsk oblast).
AVDIYIVKA AXIS: the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault operations in the vicinities of Stepove, Avdiyivka, Tonenke, Pervomaiske (Donetsk oblast), where the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 13 attacks. The adversary launched more than 10 air strikes in the vicinity of Avdiyivka (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Ocheretyne, Berdychi, Lastochkyne, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, Netailove (Donetsk oblast).
MARYINKA AXIS: the adversary conducted unsuccessful assault operations in the vicinity of Maryinka (Donetsk oblast). The Ukrainian defenders repelled 13 attacks in that area. Around 10 settlements of Donetsk oblast, including Nevelske, Krasnohorivka, Heorhiyivka, Maryinka, Pobjeda, were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.
SHAKHTARSKE AXIS: the invaders conducted failed assaults in the vicinity of Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast). The adversary launched an air strike in the vicinity of Rivnopil (Donetsk oblast). Around 10 settlements, including Vodyane, Vuhledar, Bohoyavlenka, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.
ZAPORIZHZHIA AXIS: the invaders did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions. More than 15 settlements, including Poltavka, Huliaipole, Charivne, Orikhiv, Mali Shcherbaky, Kamyanske (Zaporizhzhia oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.
KHERSON AXIS: the occupiers launched an air strike in the vicinity of Tyahynka (Kherson oblast). The settlements of Beryslav, Tyahynka, Ivanivka (Kherson oblast) and the city of Kherson suffered from enemy artillery shelling.
At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operation on Melitopol axis and offensive (assault) operations on Bakhmut axis, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, exhausting the enemy all along the front line.
During the day of November 7, Ukrainian Air Force launched 17 air strikes on concentrations of troops, weapons and military equipment, 4 strikes on air defense systems of the occupiers.
The Ukrainian missile troops hit 6x artillery systems, 2 command posts, 1 fuel-oil depot, 1 concentration of troops, weapons and military equipment, 1 air defense system, 2 radar stations and 1 electronic warfare station of the russian invaders.

Ukraine’s election calendar would have held a vote for parliament members this week and a presidential election next March — but Ukraine’s constitution postpones elections under a state of martial law, which the government declared following Russia’s invasion 18 months ago. Ukrainian officials and civil society leaders say no effective elections can be held amid a Russian invasion that now occupies about 18 percent of Ukraine’s territory and has uprooted at least 11 million Ukrainians from their homes. Russian missile attacks continue to strike every region of the country, routinely hitting civilian targets and destroying basic infrastructure.
“In this situation, can we have the elections?” Ukraine’s ambassador in Washington, Oksana Markarova, asked in a discussion last week at USIP.
“Well, definitely not, if you believe in free and fair elections.” She compared Ukraine’s situation with that of Britain during World War II, in which the British parliament voted annually to postpone overdue 1940 elections until after the war’s end.
Oleksii Danilov, secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), expressed frustration that PACE was telling Ukraine to ignore its own constitution, as Ukrainian Pravda reported:
I want to stress that we will handle this [i.e., the question of elections - ed.] ourselves, in accordance with our laws and our Constitution. When the [martial law] is in effect, as it currently is, no elections can take place.
In June 2023, 77% of Ukrainians supported Zelenskyy’s reelection. Because Zelenskyy did make this announcement, and because the Ukrainian law does indeed prohibit elections during martial law.
The Washington-based International Republican Institute (IRI) published an opinion survey last week that found:
- 62% of Ukrainians favoring an indefinite postponement of elections until after the war,
- a total of 71 % favoring postponement at least until a year from now or longer.
- A similar poll issued by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology finds 81% of Ukrainians favoring a postponement of elections until “after the end of the war.”
- A total of nine recent opinion surveys have consistently found most Ukrainians — in majorities measured at 65 to 80% favoring postponement of elections, said Peter Erben, who directs the Ukraine operations of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES).
Erben and Aivazovska spoke alongside Markarova at the USIP discussion last week, co-sponsored by IFES and the National Endowment for Democracy.
Even OPPOSITIONAL POLITICAL FIGURES discourage any attempt to hold elections under Russian attack.
Political analysts note that a presidential vote as scheduled next March would give extraordinary advantages to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, letting him use his wartime boost in popularity (an 82 % APPROVA RATING in the new IRI poll) to lock in a new five-year term.
- Dmytro Razumkov, a parliament member with an opposition party who is discussed by analysts as a possible presidential candidate, told Politico in September that in part because “a huge amount of territory is either under occupation, or the infrastructure there is destroyed,” Ukraine has “no possibility to organize the election process on the ground” during the war.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announces the arrival of five F-16 fighter jets from the Netherlands to a training centre in Romania.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the president’s Twitter account.
“I am grateful to the Netherlands and Prime Minister Mark Rutte for their leadership in supporting Ukraine. Today, we have an important new step: five Dutch F-16s have already arrived at the training centre in Romania. We continue to work together to welcome F-16s to Ukrainian skies as soon as possible,” Zelensky wrote.
