While the 14th Amendment’s application of birthright citizenship to animals is subject to much debate, let’s stipulate that it doesn’t even matter if the panda has US citizenship. We still should not return baby Xiao Qi Ji to Xi Jinping’s China.
If the administration does not step in, our miracle panda is heading to China with its parents in a few days–moved up from the end of the year. To add insult to injury, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) hosted festivities at our taxpayer-funded Smithsonian zoo in our nation’s capital along with American defense companies.
Throughout history, China has leveraged its monopoly on pandas, and Xi has eagerly continued this practice as voraciously as Winnie the Pooh attacks a big pot of honey. This time, the Biden administration should hold fast to principles and refuse to ship America’s panda back to China.
The rationale is straightforward: the Biden administration has granted so many concessions to China already, returning our potentially citizen-panda to them would be just another added humiliation for the United States.

We should not return baby Xiao Qi Ji to China.
Our miracle panda should stay here where it was born.
To writer of this article, Matthew Foldi;
Matt, repeat after me, Baby Xiao is just an animal, albeit, a very cute one, but a beast, nonetheless. Go to any well managed American Zoo. We have tons of similar animals.
China is expecting America to beg and plead for the Panda to stay. Don’t give them the satisfaction!
If China wants to be what we used to call an Indian Giver;
meaning to bestow a ‘gift’, only to reclaim it later, fine.
It would serve them right if one of our scientists decided to clone Baby Xiao from a biopsy.
Our miracle panda should stay here where it was born.
Giant Pandas are vastly overrated. Red Pandas are where it's at.
Panda-monium!
Sorry no. Take your illegal panda and get the hell out. The US can no longer be the dumping ground for the unemployed trash pandas of the world. If we didn't take on 10 million refugees in the last 3 years we could consider it.
Perhaps if the panda had a skill that no American bear could do we could help out but your CCP trash panda is a threat to our national security and is subject to removal based on lack of a valid visa and an expired passport.
P.S. If the panda marries a US Grizzly before removal it can apply for a removal waver and immediate relative status IR-1. Given the back log of pending immigration and panda cases in the DHS we have set a hearing date for November of 2123.
Failure to appear at this hearing could, perhaps, result a strongly worded letter from the immigration court postponing the hearing indefinitely.
They are too stupid to breed.
Looks like Panda's back on the menu, boys!
I look at that adorable creature and my heart fills with joy as it tells me “warm mittens”. Winter is coming.
Wait, better idea: we should clone the little bugger and sell the progeny (if that’s even the right word) on the world market, undercutting Chinese market domination with a cheap American product. I don’t know about you but something in that screams “Cosmic Justice” to me...
