It is fun. and here is the deal. Classics were built to be dependable and last sometimes three generations. If one was to dump 20k into a classic they would have a real car made out of real metal that will last the rest of their lives.
A 1966 is ten times the vehicle they make now. And it is EMP proof. Only one problem, most had manual crank up windows. Now days most are so lazy this would be a deal breaker... lol
My current project is a 1960 Ford F150 stepside my Grandfather bought new and still runs great and small town low mileage. A little clean up, detailing, and a paint job and it will be worth 10k or more easy. But I am handing this one down to my Grandkid, fourth generation in the family from new. And it should be good to go for another two generations no problem.
