Steve Cohen has finally laid his cards on the table.
The billionaire Mets owner finally unveiled his long-awaited Queens casino plan Tuesday — revealing a sprawling $8 billion gaming center, hotel, and music venue near Citi Field that he has dubbed “Metropolitan Park” after the team’s full corporate name.
The proposed entertainment playground, which will be operated with Cohen by Hard Rock International, also offers the community goodies such as 20 acres of green space and access to Flushing Bay.
“It’s time the world’s greatest city got the sports and entertainment park it deserves,” said Cohen.

Illegals will love it.
Remember when MLB banned Willie Mays for associating with a legalized casino?
8 Billion in NYC, isnt that about 24 hotel rooms and 6500 square feet of casino floor? The show is a homeless guy and a eggplant. Dont worry the rooms are so nice because the bathroom door and the room door cannot hit, the bathroom door was torn off last week.
If I had 200 I would go into the casino instead of the baseball game. Chicago is already a crime shithole. Casinos have private guards. Been in a lot of casinos (primarily to eat) and never felt unsafe.
Is this some sort of tax write off? Anyone with 1/2 a functioning brain should know better than to do this in that crime infested hole!
Are they gonna let all time hits leader Pete Rose into the Hall Of Fame before he dies? As sports goes all in with gambling and incessant commercials for it, Rose’s punishment seems hypocritical and lacking in mercy and forgiveness.
Agree. And I say that as someone who felt for years he shouldn't be in. Now, why not?
So will the prostitutes on Roosevelt Avenue.
I’m a Mets STH and this is actually not a bad idea. for half a century across the street from the stadium (Shea and Citifield) were rundown shops where you could get your flat tires fixed, brakes replaced, etc. It was a real craphole.
Granted i won’t go to these places- i eat at a terrific Irish bar in Woodside Queens that has a hat hanging which says “MAKE WOODSIDE GREAT AGAIN!!” then take the 7 train to and from the game.
Yeah, the guy isn’t rich enough he has to suck the paychecks out of poor and working class people one one-armed bandit at a time.
Don't tell John Rocker.
And the 7 train was better back in those days!!!
NYC Greenspace = Hobo Haven.
This past year they had the Westminster Kennel Club show at Arthur Ash stadium/US Open complex in Queens. My wife asked me IF I wanted to go. I said ABSOLUTELY NO. No F’N way. It is in a SH#T Hole area.
The two previous years they had it up in Terrytown at the Lyndhurst Estate. It was a great place to go. There were several nice hotels and good restaurants. A couple right on the river.
Hey, the Mets do have the highest payroll in MLB. Did they even make the playoffs?
They destroyed the WKC show moving it away from Madison Square Garden- it was a great event that had a great atmosphere because of the crowd. I was there at the Garden in February, 2020, when Daniel the Golden Retriever won the crowd.
1- i live 20 minutes from Tarrytown. It was a joke having it there- the general public could not get in to watch best in show.
2- you are clueless about the Arthur Ashe/Citifield area. Its off the beaten path and there is nothing around but highways, parking lots, the subway as well as the stadiums. No one- vagrants, homeless, illegals, criminals, etc, hang out there. There is nothing there except on game day!!!
Westminister’s decision to keep it at Arthur Ashe in May was a disaster. The Garden used to sell out for the show- or close to a sellout. Arthur Ashe was what- 50% full last year for the show with no atmosphere???
Our beautiful country has become a big casino.
Rose’s punishment was based on his gambling on games in which he was a participant, in which he had a duty to compete. These were games in which he was a manager of the Reds.
He wasn’t banned for placing bets on games he was not involved in. If he had been banned for placing bets on games he was not a participant in, then it would be very hypocritical to keep him out of the Hall of Fame, considering how pro sports are embracing gambling.
Might as well consolidate them into the same facilities.
then take the 7 train to and from the game.
Yep….we’ve done that, to many a Mets game, when family was living in Queens…further East, of you.
