I’ve read that some of the tunnels are 200 to 300 feet deep. Can the bombs be effective at that depth? (serious question)

Depends, have seen numbers suggested beyond 260 feet.
They are 5,000 lb bombs.
It is said they were built for Sadam’s hardened bunkers.
