One of my great aunts was married to an Irish beat cop in Worcester, MA. Back in September 1941, he was walking his beat when he got into with a thug. The thug kicked him in the stomach. He went to the hospital and he was released. He died a couple days later from the kick in the stomach.

There is a youtube channel called “Code Blue Cam” that shows arrests of thugs. Thugs will fight, kick, spit on, punch, wrestle, and battle cops and when they go to jail the final part of the video will show what they were charged with, but the charges are always lowered from a felony to misdemeanor with a $100 fine and the assaults on the cop are always dropped.
I don’t see why cops even bother working.
