Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser will hand out FREE AirTags to residents to make it easier to track their cars if they're stolen as crime spikes in the city

Washington DC will hand out free AirTags to residents to track stolen cars in light of the rising levels of crime.

Mayor Muriel Bowser announced in a press conference that residents living in areas with the highest reports of carjackings will receive a free tracking device.

Free AirTags will be distributed at three different events held from November 7-9 and residents will have to show proof of residency and an address that matches the eligible areas.

Bowser said at the press conference: 'These tags and tiles will help MPD recover stolen vehicles and hold people accountable.

'The word will also get out this is not a community to come in and steal cars.'

At the distribution event, police officers will help install the tags into cars. The tag can be installed anywhere in the car and its location will not be accessible to police.

The free AirTags will work the same as Apple designed them. If a car is stolen, the owner will be able to look up its location on the Find My app on their Apple iPhone.

An alternative tracking device for Android users is the Tile tracker, which will also be distributed at the same events. They function the same as AirTags.

Bowser also told the public that Dashcams will be given out to truck and delivery drivers next week for their safety.

Acting police chief Pamela Smith did not clarify how many tags will be distributed at the events.

She said at the conference: 'Our carjacking, motor vehicle thefts and unlawful use of vehicles are up 36 percent this year over last year.

In 2023, car thefts in the DC area have been reported to be up by 101 percent, with the MPD reporting a total of 5,916 stolen cars and 754 carjackings this year.

Yet when the victim goes to get their vehicle back from the thieves, they’re not allowed to have a gun on their hips.

Where does government get the money for these on the fly giveaways? It seems anything they want to do they can just do.

After my car is jacked I could care less about retrieval. The scum that jacked it are now responsible.

With that responsibility, comes justice in the form of hanging. Just like horse stealing in the old West. You steal my ride and it’s life or death to me. Should be rather simple to pass that through the various Legislatures.

It’s serious property crime involving usually death threats and or assault with a deadly weapon or both. From start to finish the punishment should be death. Those doing the jacking don’t give a (fill in the blank) about anyone inside the vehicle. The same should be dealt to the perps.

Speaking of justice, or the lack thereof. Back when homosexuality was a crime, we didn’t have that side harassing the general public with the idea that homo’s were normal, anymore than we have serial adulterer’s claiming the same. The good book claims both are serious sin and are not on the approved list of things to do.

After all, why should I have to care where homo’s or adulterers are hiding their sausages. Because in today’s world it just might be a physical and spiritual death sentence, but it didn’t used to be. It was more a spiritual death sentence back in the day. Frankly, I prefer back in the day.

The more we allow the removal of God from the equation, the worse things are for those wishing to worship in peace. The prince of this world is not going to buy in to worship of his competition while he is still on the loose and in control of those listening and obeying.

But will the police respond when called about a stolen vehicle? Or, will the police and local prosecutors allow the vehicle owner to take whatever actions, including, deadly force, to recover their own vehicle?

If you have an iPhone you can locate an AirTag on a vehicle.

I'm sure the thieves already have this figured out.

“The good book claims both are serious sin and are not on the approved list of things to do.”

OMG! Making a claim like that makes you an insurrectionist punishable by being locked in a dungeon somewhere without any charges or defense lawyer, for forever.
