A trans woman who secretly recorded restaurant staff repeatedly referring to her as 'sir' and posted it on social media platforms, was slammed online by social media users.
The video, shared by @lillytino_, quickly went viral as she accused the restaurant servers of misgendering her, but some users criticized her for an 'egocentric power trip' directed at innocent staff.
In the video, the trans woman can be seen wearing bright red lipstick, earrings, necklaces, and crop tops.
When restaurant staff said 'thank you sir' or 'yes sir,' she could be heard correcting them: 'I use she/her pronouns. I'm not sir. I specifically asked not to be called sir.'
'It's always like a knife in the heart. It always hurts,' she expressed the emotional impact of being misgendered in front of the camera.
'I don’t need to be called ma’am, I just need to not be called sir,' she can be heard saying in the video.
On a few occasions, she left the restaurant after being called 'sir.' She also requested to speak to managers multiple times after the staff apologized.
The video was initially shared on TikTok by the user @lillytino, an influencer who livestreamed herself dining at restaurants and recording incidents of being misgendered.
The video has drawn 4.3million views and more than 200,000 likes on TikTok, as she wrote 'USE GENDER NEUTRAL LANGUAGE' alongside the video.
She has been slammed for what many perceived as a 'egocentric power trip' and 'attention seeking' on social media.

When I was in the Navy, we called all officers sir, whether they be male or female.
