“On this day in history, December 16, 1773, the Boston Tea Party takes place when a group of angry patriots dump the tea from three ships into Boston Harbor to protest Parliament’s tax on tea.”

I chuckle when I read about the Boston Tea Party.

In doing my Ancestry there is a relative who posted a story that was told by a Great-Grandfather. That story was that 3 brothers on my fathers side of the family had dressed up like Indians and was dumping the tea into the harbor. In doing so one of them drowned. Before this happened our surname previously had to TT’s in it so they then eliminated on of the T’s because of the drowning.

Now I searched and NEVER found that there was anyone who drowned or died during the Boston tea party.

This relative actually believes this TALL TALE that was told by a great-grandfather and passed down as gospel truth. lol

Great story,Spunky.

Makes me wonder of those who participated in the Boston Tea Party could have any idea that we would be celebrating their acts 250 years later.
