My husbands brother-in-law wanted nothing to do with assisted living either. He was 92 IIRC. Even though he had us here and some grand-children here his daughter lived in Texas. She was nervous for him living alone.
She convinced him to give it a try. She told him to keep his house and if after a year you don’t like living in assisted living you can come back to your house.
Now he was a VERY social person. He knew no strangers and he found that he LOVED being there.
Not knowing your father Jemian, if he is at all social he may find it wouldn’t be so bad.
I also have a friend living in an assisted home and she is happy there. It is not a nursing home. Lots of activities.

My grandparents were in something called the odd fellows. I think it was a club he was in and somehow they financed this retirement home. Anyway they loved it. I think they had the option of getting meals but they had their own kitchen. So it wasn’t Assisted Living but they had lots of people their own age and tons of activities.
