My employer used United Health Care. Our contract stipulated US based call centers as well as no work at all performed off shore.

I’ve been a USAA member for 45 years, originally through my USAF dad and then through my own military service. Although they still have great customer service, the employees will tell you that the (no prior military service) CEO has dragged the company into ridiculous levels of wokeness. Very disappointing.

SEIU bought United Healthcare.
SEIU wrote Obamacare.
This should tell you all you need to know.

I joined AARP-UHC several years ago as my Medicare Advantage.

In the spring around March or April, UHC dropped most of the physicians [including my PCP] and medical centers as they renegotiated their contracts -- for that current year. Several months passed before they sent me notice of my new PCP.

Luckily, I was seeing my PCP quarterly for general blood labs and my prescriptions were quarterly, so I did not have to see the new PCP.

Finally, about October, they settled on a new contract. They did offer retro coverage, for those who needed it.

The next MA enrollment period I dropped them like they dropped me. Never again will I select AARP-UHC, as long as there is an alternative.

Aetna MA has been very good and I have been with them since and will continue with them for 2024.

AARP has been nothing but an insurance marketing racket for as long as I can remember.

And they will market anything else as long as they get a cut. It's a sales organization, not a advocacy group for those over 60.

In Oklahoma United is the only non-advantage plan available offering group rates instead of age based rates. The divide and conquer strategy of insurance makes this the case since Oklahoma is a small market. More regulatory nonsense to the advantage of the sellers.

I have considered advantage and still do but for now I have to stick with what I have, united.

The whole mess is far to complex. Here are some factors though some may dispute them they are as near to the facts as I can determine:

Advantage is not transportable across state lines without penalty. Our nearest facilities are 25 miles away across the state line or 100 miles away to something in state worth mention.

When you enroll you are automatically eligible for part G with United but once you leave you are subject to underwriting and may not be able to go back

You can go to advantage any time during open enrollment but you still are subject to under writing if you try to go back to part G.

There has to be a catch to advantage, they push it too hard though I know people with it who do OK but they are also in the disadvantaged class. If you have money it costs more. Most medical care seems to be worthless anyway.

Not the best in the world, just the most expensive.

Yes, the catch is they get sales commissions. The "free" checkup is a sales ruse to sell you an advantage plan. Amazing that they get away with this deceitful advertising.

AARP is an arm of the Democrat party.

I don’t care because I burned the AARP bridge long ago. May they rot in Hell.

AARP-UHC has been my best option for medicare insurance here in my rural Oregon county. Not Anymore!

The local medical groups are ending their contracts with UHC, and they will no longer be in the UHC network beginning next year. UHC is difficult for providers to deal with, arguing about every penny, and very particular about how claims are worded.

Now, the next best insurance company plans for Medicare Advantage is Aetna, but none of my providers accept Aetna for Medicare-type plans.

That leaves the third best, Humana.

They were started by an insurance whose name escapes me and are a Socialist entity now. Got their mail when I turned 55 few years back & to their credit, removed me from their mailing/email lists when requested.

If you ever have trouble with any insurance company, request from them the Insurance Dept address of your and their states. Answering state complaints are a headache & if you threaten it, most will comply with your request.

My father who was a vet died last year & since he was a vet, he had to be alive for me to join USAA. Too late now for me.
