He'll be a lone voice on this I suspect in the House at least.

On FR I was surprised at how many of you were also taking this position.

Seems foreign aid - no matter how worthy - is becoming very unpopular right now.

All that money wasted on the Ukraine cesspool could have been used instead
to help Israel, a nation which is a true friend of the United States.

Massie voted for the debt ceiling bill that gave Biden unlimited borrowing power. This guy virtue signals and is a fake and a phony.

It won't do any good to give them $$ if we tell them they can't do what needs to be done.

Perhaps some sort of mention in the bill about the need to take
“exceptional” action or some such.

We certainly have a bigger interest in the outcome here then in Ukraine.

The lid needs to be put on soon or the pot will boil over ...
then we are all cooked.

I know people who are far more moderate than people here who are sick and tired of spending on foreign wars when people here are having serious financial issues and we are paying for all theses illegal aliens free stuff.

Mr Johnson needs to resist the push of the uniparty and RINOs and put this country before foreign entanglements or he will be little better than McCarthy.

I will hold out my thoughts on him until he delivers.

You do realize that we are $33T in dept, right? Why should we barrow money to give to Israel? Why shouldn’t the barrow the money instead of us? Why not loan them it instead?

“Seems foreign aid - no matter how worthy - is becoming very unpopular right now.”

However taxpayer’s money and the debt pile on to give the millions of illegals billions of dollars they haven’t worked for is in fact ‘foreign aid’ and is quite popular amongst the left and the politicians. If you add in the amount of years this has been going on is has to be over a trillion bucks by now. I recall when it was a problem in the Reagan years and now the problem is exponential and worsening by the day.

And rightly so. Imagine that there are five wonderful charities in a town. Imagine also that a family in that town is deeply in debt. And each year their debt gets worse. It’s so bad that the family’s baby grandchildren will eventually be paying on today’s debt.

How much should that family be giving to those wonderful charities? A fair argument could be made that the answer is little to nothing.

There is no Constitutional authorization for the Federal government to give US taxpayer money to foreign governments for any purpose.

That should be the default position.

The interest on the debt is now 662 billion dollars. All that money just to pay for the current debt! Insane! People go into Congress and come out as millionaires. They don’t want that gravy train to stop. Our enemies must be quite happy we cannot pay for the most basic need that a Government should do which is national defense. Allah Fubar!

Israel can flatten Gaza without a single extra penny from us. It’s a 25 mile wide strip of land and we’ve sent billions every year for decades. They can handle it.

Cut off financial aid and student loans to anti-Semites enrolled in our Universities. That would be plenty enough to fund it.

Very unpopular. Many other worthy causes if we cared about our own citizens or region. How about some aid to Acapulco? I’d say we owe them something to make up for being the world’s shittiest neighbor.

I’ve tried to figure out some justification for the 14 billion.

Given Joe Biden’s request to minimize Palestinian civilian casualties, paying for accurate smart bombs and missiles might be justified.

The other Israeli need might be to make up for the soldier salaries and lost Israeli income taxes of Israelis called up for military service. Given Americans are still being held hostage this too might be justified.

Can anyone provide the official reasons for the $14 billion sum?
