It seems strange to see the words Domino’s and pizza side-by-side.
If they have a shift and are expected to show up on time and in uniform, then they can’t be independent contractors.
“Domino’s-Ireland Announcement: Unfortunately, following a ruling by a High Court in Ireland, Domino’s will no longer offer delivery service. All pizza orders will now have to be picked up at the restaurant. Because this may place a burden on our customers, we will also be reducing the price on ALL of our menu offerings by 25%. We appreciate your understanding.”
“Side Note to Delivery Drivers: You’re fired.”
Well, I don’t really know the details, but my gut feeling is that this will be the end of Domino’s Pizza in Ireland.
I wonder if other pizza makers in Ireland have the same arrangements with their delivery drivers as Domino’s Pizza?
Question for those who have pizza (and other food) delivered: is the price jacked up from the front-counter price or do the drivers depend on tips. Seems like they’d have to get a pretty hefty tip to pay for the gas.
