Everything changes. Atari killed arcades. Amazon helped kill brick and mortar. Home computers and other gadgets took away the time and requirements to walk around a mall. So many things change because of technology and culture. Drive inn movies, etc etc.

However, malls are alive in SE Asia, especially Malaysia and Indonesia. Of note, one of the ways the riff raff is kept out is by a small fee. Same for Sams and Walmart. Always safer at a Sams.

Wal Marts in NJ are usually in not so nice areas staffed by hood rats. No thanks. .

But in SE asia they deal with thieves and people who cause trouble. Severely. Plus the culture is generally more civil there, also being more homogenous as a society is beneficial. Everything I said before, just phrased a little differently.
