I would think people with bleeding gums have a situation made worse by their blood sugar and insulin levels, yet, they are still not bad enough to ve called Type 2 diabetics.
I would look at this as a great opportunity, but not likely any better an opportunity than getting yourself healthy by working off your calories and eating fewer carbs.
Yeah, it isn’t new news. I did a trial with it about five years ago and couldn’t tolerate even 250 mg. And among diabetics it has a pretty high failure rate due to adverse effects.
The best way for type 2 diabetics to reduce their blood sugar is to eat low carb. It certainly worked for me, brought my A1C down from 6.8 to 5.4 just by changing my diet. Hi blood sugar levels destroy everything in your body including your teeth.
When I was first diagnosed with type 2 the doc put me on Metformin. I took it for just a few days and for those few days, I lived in the bathroom. My wife had the same experience with Metformin.
Doc said it was a common occurrence and put us on insulin.
Metformin, which should be called “Morefartin”, gave me unprecedented gas.
Good thing mine dont stink or I could not live with myself.
Metformin is GREAT! I have zero metabolic issues, no pre-Diabetes/Diabetes. I began taking metformin experimentally about 10 years ago when I was in my late 50s. I have taken as much as 1500 mg per day, but now typically 1000 mg in the evening. I started very slow with 250 mg a day and worked up. If you do a search for metformin study, you begin to see many different research studies with this product. Recently it seems to be found to prevent hospitalization for people who had covid. There are many different cancers that it seems to be likely to reduce the development of. Has potential benefits for the eyes as far as macular degeneration and on and on. Do your own searches. A lot of the.com execs are taking metformin as a potential extender of healthy older years and potentially an extended lifespan. I think there’s some bigger stuff out there that can do more but for now metformin is a good choice for many people.
Metformin is an excellent drug, but the natural substance curcumin does the same thing for blood sugar, and much more.
If you could only take it without having to expect when you need to take a half hour bathroom break. I have to eat like a big bowl of chile or atleast something big enough to “soak up” all the Metformin, which quickly passes the definition of “portion control’. I gotta tell you. The list of beneficial things that this drug does is amazing and I have felt many myself. You just gotta choke those horse pills down and get on with it!
I started taking metformin recently as I found about 50% blockage by plaque of my left cartotid artery. I’ve got a gun pointed at my head.
So I’ve dropped 10 pounds. I’ll drop 20 more pounds byo of low carbs and every other day limiting myself to about 500 calories.
Then I started taking three drugs to lower inflammation and stabilize plaque. The first is metformin, the second is colchisine and the third is esitimbe. (My spellings may not be correct.) Occasionally I’ll take ramapril. Its a blood pressure medicine that has some anti inflammatory side effect. I don’t take it often because I don’t any blood pressure problems. I only take the metformin on days when I have full meals or about every other day. My blood sugar levels are already fairly low at 91.
As well I’ve upped my k2 300mcg @day and my vitamin d to 20k mcg. Plus I’ve added a couple of herbals that are said to have anti inflammatory properties.
I’m hoping these will stabilize and even shrink the plaque.
