The only time I had trouble with anesthesia is when it was administered by someone other that an anesthesiologist.
It appears that nurses are allowed to do sedation for things like endoscopy. I had the TIVA protocol used on me for a major surgery. The head Dr did the gassing and moved me to first of day due to risk factors. I made the decision then no nurse was ever going to put me out for anything.
He told me he would let me view the cap they put on the machine for safety purposes before I went under which was BS because I was out in seconds from the spinal block. He was just trying to make me feel better.
