In his first boxing match since an exhibition two years ago against Floyd Mayweather, Logan Paul dominated.
Paul defeated MMA fighter Dillon Danis Saturday in a six-round bout in Manchester.
The first five rounds were all Paul. The YouTuber-turned-WWE superstar landed 82 punches, while Danis landed just nine. Danis seemed to take his trolling into the ring by doing backhanded punches and lying down in the ring, but that was just a small preview.
In the sixth, Danis went for Paul's legs in an MMA-type grapple, but Paul whisked him away. Security guards nearly entered the ring. That wasn't even close to the most bizarre part.

(Matt McNulty/Getty Images) As the final seconds ticked, Danis attempted to put Paul into a guillotine chokehold. Paul got out of it, and Paul threw a punch as Danis was on the mat. When Danis got up, the referee tried to keep them separated, but Danis went on the attack. Well over a dozen security guards jumped into the ring. Danis swung at security, and Paul's younger brother, Jake, got involved.
Security members on both sides jostled with one another, and Danis was disqualified. Although Paul held the unanimous lead through the first five rounds.

There was bad blood between Paul and Danis in recent weeks, with the MMA fighter even taking shots at Paul's fiancée. On Friday at their press conference, Danis threw a microphone at Paul, giving him a black eye.

I didn’t even know who Dillon Danis was (beyond I’d heard his name mentioned) until a few days ago when he choked out a tiny woman for fun then laughed as she briefly convulsed (they say it can kill you):

Then the next day his entourage throws objects, cutting Paul’s face and hurting others.
Finally this fight where Danis was predictably destroyed by Paul. I hope his career is over.
Don’t follow MMA, but curious about where Bo Nickal stands. He’s not someone to mess with.
I don’t follow it closely enough to know either (I used to back in the day of GSP etc).
Geez, why was the woman letting him do that?
BTW, I know nothing about the sport, but thought I would do a quick search of this Bo person for you to see what I could find quickly, for what it's worth. Not much in my opinion. 🤣
He’s a bad man, but a good guy.
Says it all. MMA has become the WWE.
I think he’s only had one fight in the UFC so far. Usually they only do about 2 fights a year though, so it will probably be a couple more months before he gets on another card.
My husband was a massive MMA fan - knew everything about it, all the “players” etc. Was a huge boxing fan too - but felt it had been rigged in the past couple of decades.
Glad he isn’t around to see this.
My condolences

I followed fr9m before gsp, back in the days of the pride league where no holds were barred. Followed for a bit after the gsp reign, but fights began to be more wrestling than stand up fights.
I can appreciate the skill of the wrestlers, but it makes for boring fights in my opinion, so I kinda phased out of mma- every now and again I’ll watch, hoping for a good fight, but inevitably the fights go to the ground th3se days mostly.
Also, the inclusion of women’s fights just kinda ruined the sport for me. I don’t mind that they wanna fight, (they are tough FOR WOMEN, but still nowhere near the toughness of men really- and in my opinion don’t belong in same league. but I think they should, have their own venue instead of being featured in men’s league- imcant stand the commentators acting like the women are the most brutal thing to walk the earth- their comments during female bouts are just rediculous- its like car enthusiasts trying. To hype a vw during a Lamborghini show. They hype is over-the-top rediculous.
I’ve seen many many questionable bouts and questionable punches that down an opponent for the count in recent decade- ive questioned the authenticity of the matches myself. Sad to even think that the matches could be staged, but one has to wonder for some of the matches.
Big Bob Sapp WAs kinda known for taking a fall- some claim he was legit, but others think not- I’m not sure what to think- some of his losses seemed staged.
8 hope the fights are legit, but who knows anymore. (Obviously the knockout wins are legit, and the submission wins look legit when the opponents leg is bent in directions it shouldn’t go, but other fights do seem questionable at times]
“ but fights began to be more wrestling than stand up fights.”
I agree. A few ground and pound fights can be exciting, especially when mixed with standup. But how many (many is the answer) fights does 1 see where a guy is stronger but not proficient enough to get a submission and you sit and watch 15 minutes of rolling around? Almost rather watch golf….almost I said.
Actually the most exciting fighting style in my opinion has been around for a long while and yet still can’t seem to gain a large following:
Kick-boxing.
I’ll take your word for it. 👍
[[ Almost rather watch golf….almost I said]]
Exactly- this is the reason I record all the fights I wanna see now- IF they remain on the feet, and the fights are good i’ll watch, otherwise i fast forward the fight to the next boutique.
Yep- there have been some pretty wicked kickboxing in mma, but they are far and few between. I also really enjoy karate when in the hands of experts like lioto machida- love watching h8m explode into attacks catching the opponent off guard.
