“If this young man is a low functioning autistic, they can have zero impulse control (like a toddler). They need to be in schools for special needs students if they are repeatedly violent without provocation or cause.”
That’s part of the problem. Too many special needs schools have been shut down and their students “main streamed” into ones that aren’t able deal with the issues they bring.
That’s all part of Public Law 94-142. Students must be educated in the least restrictive environment. Another law enacted by Democrats with unintended consequences.
Don’t get me wrong; my youngest son has personally benefitted from it and will be going on to a successful life. That being said, there are people for whom it will not be appropriate as their needs far outweigh the capabilities of the school district and they will always need a highly specialized environment. Most districts can’t afford it.
