That’s all part of Public Law 94-142. Students must be educated in the least restrictive environment. Another law enacted by Democrats with unintended consequences.
Don’t get me wrong; my youngest son has personally benefitted from it and will be going on to a successful life. That being said, there are people for whom it will not be appropriate as their needs far outweigh the capabilities of the school district and they will always need a highly specialized environment. Most districts can’t afford it.
I agree with you totally, Ma‘am.
Such decisions, i.e., where to have an autistic child educated, should be done on a case-by- case basis. I‘m afraid that’s the best way, though it’s a difficult and expensive decision…I know…
Anyway, I would like to express my compliments on your son and his heroism :-) I wish I could visit your family in Texas and thank him personally - he is really, really great :-)
