I think the Israelis knew this would happen, conferred with the Arab states that signed the Abraham Accords, etc. with, got word that, yes, the Arab states don’t give a s*** about Hamas and prefer it gone.
Getting this okay, Israel allowed the attack to happen and intend on driving the Gaza peeps into the sea or into Sinai. If the West Bank mobilizes, they’ll clear them out to Jordan and possibly deal with Hezbollah as well.

When I was in Nam we were always on alert prior to US holidays. 4th of July, etc. Back then the US military still remembered the Pearl Harbor effect. Israeli security was asleep atbthe switch. Ive seldom read so many excuses for gross incompetence. The simple fact of the Yom Kippur anniversary should have had security beefed up.

According to the news the terrorists abandon modern communications in planning the attacks and used low tech communications. They also used face to face meetings and hand carried messages from one meeting to the next. They probably moved equipment around in the dead of night. If accurate that should tell the US what might happen here. I’m sure Joe will heed warnings like this ... right after he has his daily ice cream break and afternoon nap.

I suspect the cause of Israeli intelligence errors originated in the ten months before he took office, much like most of the errors of intelligence began under Clinton and before GWBush took office in January 2001 - nine months before 9/11. My one complaint about GWBush was he was too collegial to the intelligence officials he inherited and should have sacked them all as soon as he took office. But like his fAther he trusted too much in the deep state to be doing the right thing. That trust as not warranted.
