Music video by Jeff Lynne's ELO performing Turn To Stone. (C) 2017 Big Trilby Records, under exclusive license to Columbia Records, a Division of Sony Music Entertainment
“The best two concerts of my life, both in 1978. ELO and Queen.”
Same here around the same time... The ELO light show kicked off a whole new era of concert production. Just incredible.
Why would they? They do not have the album sales anymore so need to cut the stage budget.
Ha ha ha! Well, at least you had the best seat in the house (unfortunately right next to the worst seat in the house!). I had that similar row/seat back in 1981 or so when they came to McNichols. Not sure what happened, but their string orchestra just fell apart on them. Was sad.
Also one of the Traveling Willburys (George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne). Did most of the post recording producing/mixing with George
Of course, should go with needing to say and exactly the point I was making.
ELO had both Rosie Langley (violin solo) and Amy Langle in the string section when I saw them. They were friends of Jeff’s daughters in music school and he gave them a spot in the band. They were great and the string section overall was great. Rosie did a violin solo on “Livin’ Thing “.
I forgot, when the song was over on “Livin’ Thing “ Rosie smiled at Jeff as she walked past and said “Ha! No mistakes”. I was close enough to hear it.

One of the best live concerts you can find on youtube. You can thank me later.
I can’t think of an ELO song that I don’t love but Mr. Blue Sky is among my favorites.

Mr. Blue Sky isn’t even music - it’s beyond that. It’s just happy vibes.

When they played “Evil Woman” I was pointing at the person seated to my right.
Dhani is so like his dad. Eerie almost. Looks like he turned out OK too.
Complete sonic genius. Hold on tight!
What a great song...the audience just having fun with it! And, what a mixed-age audience too. Did you see all the old people? Old like me. LOL
Thanks for the link.

I can’t imagine anyone listening to this song and not smiling. Same with ELO’s All Over the World - pure joy.

Another song the makes me smile every time I hear it is “Happy” by Pharrell Williams.

My niece and her husband threw a birthday party for their triplet daughters when they turned 5 and their “older daughter” born just 11 months earlier turning 6 at a local fire hall inviting all their classmates and family. The movie Minions was very popular and that was the theme of the party.
They had a friend who was a DJ and he played all sorts of family and kid friendly music.
When he played “Happy” all the kids got out on the dance floor and it was a joy to watch all these little kids dance and then joined by us “oldsters” including their great grandmother.
That and watching the kids try to do the “chicken dance”. 😊
Good song, but my favorite was "Don't Bring Me Down" with its killer base line. Simple arrangement compared to their other stuff. Also, remember how big the Police song, "Every Breath You Take." was? The critics hated it because of the few chords compared to their other songs. I loved it.
