I don’t think Hamas is that stupid. Hostages are their ace of spades to get Hamas prisoners out of Israel. Hamas will keep them alive as trading capital.

They tend to keep them alive, sometimes for months or years. Yes, I agree. Israel has no choice. No matter how this is handled, Israel is forever damaged. The idea is to create a delima for your enemy rather than a problem. A problem has a solution. A delima has more than one solution, all bad.
