Hilarious!
2 Mennonite - every Amish girls’ dream
Knowing some Amish lots of them have phones to conduct business.
Nothing new or secret about it.
Ah technology. Neither of our smartphones showed the "nationwide" alert, suggesting the test was a laugh-er. And yet we get some severe weather warnings. Proving the Feds are....
The level of technology they can use is up to the bishop of the community.
I’ve known a few Amish builders. They have the best trucks and tools. The Amish wear black pants and straw hats. One guy on the crew wears a Nirvan t-shirt. He’s the driver.
I thought this was from the Babylon Bee at first.
I didn’t get any alert.
FBI plants to discredit their faith. lol
Umm…..no, uh, neither did I… (I think he suspects something, but everyone keep quiet and especially don’t tell him where the secret bunker is.)
I had a two story two car garage put up a few years ago by a Amish crew, great job, 6 guys two days and very reasonable. I could not have built it myself as as cheap and it would have taken me months to do. My only regret is not doing a 3 car garage.
“Amish men shunned following emergency alert test that outed them for having cell phones”
Shouldn’t surprise anyone - how do you think they organize their mass looting/shoplifting attacks without cell phones?
We have 3 Amish communities in our county comprising of 4,000. They all have phones. I saw a young man driving a buggy and texting once.
There are some things about the Amish and their simple life I understand and can respect, others not so much.
Their general shunning of “the English” - our modern world, is to keep their younger generations from being entrapped in and by it, to the abandonment of their fundamentalist faith. They also do not believe in the forced conversion of their own, intentionally letting their youth go out into the modern world to test their faith themselves and return only if they chose and are committed to their faith.
The problem is their minimalist life and minimal numbers and isolation has produced allot of inbreeding in their population.
When we’d ask my dad “what are we” - meaning where our family ancestors were from, he’d answer “your a mutt”, “like a ‘Heinz 57 variety”. (It was really just his way of putting off a question he had no answer for.)
English driver and truck owner.
My Father in-law drove Amish for 30 years.

riverrunner is correct.
In addition, the plain clothing is a guardrail, as part of the general practice to not be led toward temptations that would fuel power, pride, and wandering away from Jesus.
