Masters of the Air, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg’s much-anticipated follow-up series to Band of Brothers and The Pacific, finally has a launch date. Check out a series of first look photos below.
The first two episodes of the nine-episode limited series will premiere on Apple TV+ on Friday, January 26th. A new episode will then air every Friday through March 15th.
Masters of the Air pulls from Donald L. Miller’s biography Masters of the Air: America’s Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany, telling the story of the enlisted men of the US Eighth Air Force and their valiant aerial war with Nazi Germany.
The ensemble cast is led by Austin Butler (Elvis) and also includes Callum Turner (Fantastic Beasts), Anthony Boyle (The Plot Against America), Nate Mann, and Raff Law. John Orloff, who worked on Band of Brothers, adapted the screenplay alongside Graham Yost (Justified, The Americans)...

One of the books The Pacific is based on.
“If it is half as good as, RAF story “Piece of Cake, I would be happy”
I saw that on PBS 25+ years ago...whenever it aired. HIGHLY recommended! A few Yank Pilots in the cast if I recall as they could volunteer prior to Pearl Harbor.
Just finished 12 O’Clock high a couple weeks ago....finished The Pacific last week and finished Band of Brothers (the second time watching it) an hour ago. My Dad’s sister who he grew up with being the youngest of a large family said he wasn’t the same when he got home. All I know is he was a wonderful husband and dad.God bless all our veterans past and present.
Watching The Pacific, it certainly at times made the European Theater look like a relative walk in the park by comparison.
The heat and the mosquitoes and the deadly animals you had to deal with, in addition to the enemy.
One of the more realistic portrayals of the "Battered Bastards of Bastogne".
“Helping the Soviets in WW2 was a horrible mistake that cost half of Europe their freedom. American men died to free Europe from the Nazis only to hand half of it over to the troglodytic, toilet-stealing Russians.”
Your hatred for the Russians is deranged. Do you know what the cost to us would have been without the Soviets? It was a bad deal having to ally with them but the alternatives were worse.
The US Eighth Air Force lost more men than the entire Marine Corps did in WWII.
Marines killed: 24,511, 3.29% of troops.
8th Air Force killed: 26,000+, 7.42% of troops.
Band of Brothers was a great mini-series on the lives of the men of “Easy” Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division. While a “war movie”, it was really about the trials and tribulations of the men, from their training through D-Day and through the end of the war and what happened to them afterwards.
I thought it to be a great series that respected the lives of those it represented, while not disrespecting anyone else.
I have it on DVD, and it is a fantastic series. The cinematics were nothing short of first class.
Masters of the Air might even be better now that some time has passed since BoB as the producers have more to work with, technologically speaking.

The cost of not allying with the Ruzzian communists would have been...
1. No Cold War
2. No threat of nuclear war with Ruzzia today
We did Ruzzia a lot of favors during WW2 and the ingrates made us regret it.
Also, screw you for defending communism.
“Too bad it’s not more widely available.”
Agreed. The only Apple products in my house are edible.
Outstanding......
Band of Brothers came out on NetFlix and I am watching from Tecoa all the way through again....... fourth? fifth time? I lack two episodes and then will begin the Pacific again
I remember my uncle Leon telling me to ditch my gear if I ever came off a landing barge. I guess many drowned before even leaving the beach. Semper Fi.
Excellent advice. Thank you!
I’ll grab a copy this weekend.

Maybe a Nazi empire in the former Soviet Union, and maybe a cold war with Nazi Germany. We would have had to fight Germany by ourselves, the Brits were running out of manpower in late ‘44 and maybe we couldn’t take the casualties that would cost until we got nukes.
Very uncivil reply from you. It’s your pattern to use personal insults and smears against those who disagree with you. Just because I disagree about allying with the Soviet Union does not make me a communist sympathizer. I’m not going to ask the mods to delete your reply. I want everyone to see how low the Ukraine partisans are getting here.
