As an engineer I call BS on this story. I’ll take bets too... any takers? I would put good money on it that there is a physical brake that overrides the electronic brakes.

Agreed. And don't overlook what BobL pointed out (before I did LOL). The alleged victim runs his own "social enterprise". Those people try to make money by being attention seeking do-gooders used to making up a cause with no substance to support it. To them it's never about the reality. It's about the story.

Destroyed enough Firebirds.

I suspect his auto insurance bill kept him poor. He also had to have that orange color that wasn't stock.

I have a new tractor, a Case IH 50A. It has a computer and an electric foot and hand throttle. Every now and again it will suddenly go to idle and stay there. I have to shut it down and restart it then it goes again until the next time.

We all know that even the best computers never do get a "glitch" and just decide to do nothing or worse. Never happens does it? Of course it does. Who thinks self-driving anything will ever do any better? Not me. Not trusting them

A couple of decades ago, I picked up rental car... unless I’m mistaken, it was a Olds Intrigue. Anyway, about a mile from the rental outlet, I was turning left at a set of lights. Right in the middle of the intersection, it completely conked out. Had to put it in park but it did restart and I continued on. I of course thought that was weird and so tried it again... sure enough, the next left turn it did again. At this point, I took it to an empty parking lot and unless I basically kept my foot almost right off the gas, it would conk out... and the more I tried to accelerate while turning left, the more quickly it would conk. It behaved completely normal when going straight or turning right.

Needless to say, the car was taken right back but imagine trying to explain that as the reason for returning it. To this day, I don’t think I’ve heard of someone else experiencing that.
