@RyanMarino
If you ever doubted that the “fentanyl exposure” myth could cause real harms and is just one more weapon in the war on people who use drugs…
A real woman just got a real life in prison sentence for the most unscientific, counterfactual nonsense I’ve ever heard.,..
They sentenced this woman because a *Sheriff* said he thought drugs aerosolized (literally impossible under the conditions described thanks to the laws of physics) & “believed” that his deputies overdosed from touching people who might have previously used drugs (also impossible)
(Excerpt) Read more at twitter.com ...
People are being prosecuted for "exposing" officers to fentanyl during busts/raids (or whatever) despite it being unscientific and not possible to be harmed as far as I know
This is evidence of prosecutor abuse in my opinion!
Why are they doing this?
Fentanyl is extremely dangerous and you can die or go into cardiac arrest by exposure.
Really? I dont know if this is true. I will look into it
It can easily be absorbed through skin or inhaling. It hardly takes anything to overdose. It is that dangerous.
We need more information on this incident before any meaningful discussion.
Even though I don’t like fentynal, I think that is an excessive sentence. 80 to 100 years would be more appropriate.
Hope they are using the same sentencing guidelines for the pushers as well as the users....
Users are being charged for attempted murder in “exposure” of the drug to LEOs
I think this is crazy
No love for users but I dont like prosecutor abuse either
Users are a soft target I think to slap them with attempted murder charges is going too far
No kidding.
Nothing surprises me any more about the justice system 🥲
In that thread there’s a few cases cited of this happening
The hardest target here is China. They are making the fentanyl.
>>This is evidence of prosecutor abuse in my opinion! Why are they doing this?
So you are taking the side of drug addicts? ...how mighty Democratic of you.
Because the policeman’s lives are more important than anyone else’s.
I have no love for them but like I said neither do I think tacking on murder charges is right
Because they can and if they can they will.
Well, I don't know either, so its hard to make an informed decision when one doesn't know. Time to find out I guess.
What we do know is, that it doesn't take much to kill a person.
Then you’ve stopped using cash, yes?
/s
Holy cow.
I don't have to lose a child to fentanyl to want to see the harshest penalty dealt out to anyone in possession of that poison.
And for the record, I'm all for Trump's suggestion of using our military to wage war on Mexico's drug cartels.....
