Military Summary is by a Belorussian who embellishes Russian talking points worse than than the Russians themselves. He's just repeating another old talking point that does not make sense.Douglas MacGregor has made similar claims since Kharkiv and Kherson last year. They didn't make sense then either.

Well, ‘Military Summary’ hasn’t made that claim (he’s about as reasonably objective in his analysis as anyone you can find analyzing the war on a daily basis) and I certainly haven’t either. I’ve long since been sick of the ongoing bloodbath there. I don’t want a single additional American dollar going to support that war and its killings.

Numbers from the Russian government itself show benefits paid for war deaths and wounded at nearly one million.
But who can believe Russian reports?
Shouldn't we expect the Russians to understate their own casualties?

Casualty estimates for Ukraine, iirc, are running in the 200,000 range, including tens of thousands of civilians.

There is no doubt that both sides have suffered grievously, but since Russians are the aggressors, they deserve far less of our sympathies.
