I’ve been binging on the Showtime series Chi lately. It is about a variety of black characters as they cope with living in Chicago. Altogether, it is not a flattering portrait. Strangely it reinforces the most damaging stereotypes people believe about blacks.

But it's Chicago. It won't be frontier folk justice, it will be tribal warfare at the neighborhood level plus (at least attempted) ethnic cleansing. Mostly African American versus Mexican, but really a free for all.

I live in Alabama...Huntsville area. Decided to go to Walmart...not my first choice. Man....I got in there, got my cart...and it wasnt 3 minutes before a middle eastern woman pushing a cart with a baby in it rolled up and asked me if I would buy milk and diapers for her. Politely saying "no" I proceeded about my business. Walking around I see her again putting a bag of diapers into her cart. THEN...I see her again rolling up to or three mexican or M.E. looking men and she's talking to them. There were (obviously) Mexicans ALL OVER in there. I seriously felt like I could be in a foreign country and it would look the same. I feel like a minority.

I would really like to study this Walmart's security cameras for one week and count the white-to-other ratio of people walking in. Even in Alabama...I would bet that there's less whites in Walmart.

Yep. Visited on business 15 years ago. First time there, and was looking forward to seeing some of the sights. Stayed at the Drake, an old hotel on the north side of downtown, view of the lake, etc. Ventured out from there. Had two ‘encounters’ with the locals, but managed to avoid violence. I will never, ever, return.
