I love peas. I love most things (a blessing and a curse). The only thing I really can’t get down is sweet potatoes.

Le Sueur peas disappeared from major stores for several decades.
They were the best peas in world - no competition came close.
My college girlfriend used to make an English Pea Casserole with Le Sueur peas that was amazing.
When you took the top off a can of Le Sueur peas in the kitchen, a delightful smell filled the entire apartment.
Maybe 5 years ago, my Safeway store in Seattle suddenly started to sell Le Sueur again.
I bought one can - terrible.
Waited a couple weeks, bought a second can, with a different expiration date - still terrible.
Frozen peas are probably an option, but you need to heat them, add seasoning, and then wash the pot - takes all the fun out of eating!

Once you put enough butter on them for them to be edible they aren’t that healthy anymore. Actually, they are. The butter does not make them unhealthy.

I love fresh and frozen peas. They’re amazing eaten out of a dew-covered pod just plucked from the vine. Only homegrown tomatoes, which are finally ready to pick a couple months after the demise of the pea plants, come close to this deliciousness!

I used to make wagon wheel pasta (rotelle) for my family with a cream chicken sauce and peas. The kid in all of us liked to fill the spokes with peas and pop it all in your mouth!
Wish the groceries near us still sold rotelle.
