L.J.: Machapuchare, also known as Machhapuchchhre or Machhapuchhre, is a mountain located in the Annapurna massif of Gandaki Province, north-central Nepal. Its highest peak has never been officially climbed due to the impossibility of gaining a permit from the Nepalese government.2 Machapuchare is revered by the local population as particularly sacred ...and is off-limits to climbing.1 It is located at the give-up of a long spur ridge, coming south out of the essential spine of the Annapurna Himalayas, which types the Japanese boundary of the Annapurna Sanctuary.
