wouldn’t it be easier and more efficient to just GO OUT IN THE SUNSHINE???
Well, if you live in the upper latitudes that’s not really an option for 3-4 months out of the year, hence “Seasonal Affective Disorder” and such.
I grew up surfing in California and have accumulated so much sun damage (including one near fatal bout of melanoma) that going out in the sun in hazardous. Hence vitamin D supplements are essential for me.
Not if you have skin cancer .
I was told by my chiropractor that full-body sunshine is required to be most effective. I asked her if she would be bailing me out of jail.
No..... in winter there isn’t sunshine
Not advised for people on certain drugs and with certain medical conditions. I’m twice as likely to develop cancer after transplant, plus my skin is like tissue paper, so regardless of sunscreen, I burn. I take 50,000 IU weekly. A lot of people do. I fill tons of ergocalciferol.
Some drugs also cause the skin to become more sensitive, so people like me who are already practically vampires have even more of a problem. It’s part of why I’m nearly nocturnal.

tough to do in the high latitude Rocky Mountain States, especially when the high temperature in the winter time is minus 23 degrees Fahrenheit for two weeks or more in a row ...
Your choice. Have you had Covid?
