Wow. Thanks for posting that. We will never know if the show would have been accepted or even better if Bruce Lee played Grasshopper. I think it would have been accepted and been really good. Though I think David Carradine brought a sadness to the character. I was never sure if the character was suppose to be part Chinese or a European/American orphan raised in China. Good show.

" Ancient Man Who Died Of Constipation Had Been Eating Grasshoppers For Months" Wrong preposition. One doesn't die "of" anything but everyone dies "from" something.

It is estimated that 6.5 million people, mostly in Mexico, Central America and South America, have Chagas disease as of 2019. - wikipedia
Something to throw into the mix.

... "someone would have had to bring him food resources, as well as attending to his daily needs". I.e. he received care from the community as he was dying. As he was immobilized and slowly dying the only food they gave him was bugs.

    Note to preppers.
Do NOT eat bugs. Or at least lots of them. Find other food sources the human body is designed to digest.

If done now, the show would be condemned because he wasn’t Asian.

In an episode of Two and Half Men (s6 I think) the Charlie character suggested that “Psychosomatic Constipation” would make a good band name.

Bugs should be no problem, simply crunchy protein.
Wood fibers? What, you think vegan is a survival strategy?
As to the ollllld dude, perhaps he forgot to chew and the little buggers grabbed hold on the way down.

John the Baptist ate locusts and wild honey. Apparently, some insects are good for food, but only if you add in things like wild honey, which contains antioxidants, and is antibacterial. People love shrimp and lobster, and after all, they’re just sea bugs. That said, no thanks. No land bugs for me, if I have a choice.

To: metmom
According to the Bible, locust can be eaten. However, I would roast them first.
