The art world is buzzing with anticipation as a stunning masterpiece by Pablo Picasso, titled "Femme a la montre," has been unveiled in Dubai as part of a pre-auction tour.

Coinciding with the 50 year anniversary since the legendary artist's death, the work is being made available in November as part of a two-day sale featuring the late New Yorker Emily Fisher Landau's renowned art collection.

His mistress was hideous, if the artwork is any indicator.

Assuming that’s EXACTLY what she looks like, and Picasso, being so famous, should have nailed it with photographic precision, I have to say “Uglier than eight miles of bad road.”

How do they know it is his mistress? It’s impressionist so it doesn’t look like anybody. For all we know that was a clerk at his local 7-11.

It has been said the Picasso was a misogynist who hated women.

For all the guffawing that his art gets, people forget that early in his career Picasso was very traditional and quite good.

There's no reason why he couldn't have gone back and dipped into the wellspring of his youth when it came to painting his mistress.

I can sort of "get" Guernica. This though just looks like a mess.

Salvador Dalí was the same - his early traditional work was amazing... I like his later stuff but I get what you’re saying.

I was going to borrow a few bucks, and bid on that Picasso. But I decided to buy the picture below instead. It was cheaper, and also more interesting.

(Notice Grant on the far left and Coolidge , Harding, and Hoover in the background on the right.)
