This kind of thread is bringing down FR. It’s taking advantage of a no cost forum and I doubt that the people who call themselves revmom make any contributions to the freepathons. Speeddyintexas probably doesn’t either.

I am Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video I will tell you what happened on the five hundred seventy ninth day of the war.

Day 579: Sep 25

Today, there are a lot of important updates from the Tokmak direction.

FIRST of all, today, Russian sources admitted that Ukrainian forces advanced toward Novoprokopivka, established control over the last fields in front of the settlement, and entered the settlement itself. However, it was not the only settlement that Ukrainians finally entered in this direction. Today, it was finally confirmed that Ukrainians also entered Verbove and officially started the second big battle in this region.

Recently released combat footage by the Russian side revealed how a Ukrainian armored fighting vehicle was exiting Verbove. Unfortunately, the vehicle got on a mine, which is why Russians published the video, but based on the practice with western armored fighting vehicles, the crew likely survived. Since the vehicle was exiting the village, it means that it successfully delivered additional assault units to the settlement and that Ukrainians got a foothold in the northern part of the settlement. Later, Ukrainian sources confirmed that Ukrainian forces managed to advance in this direction.

Such an advancement was only possible because Ukrainians cleared almost all trenches and fortifications on the second line of defense around the village. As you can see, the supply road that Ukrainians used to deliver their assault units is located right between the two lines of fortifications. By establishing control over them, Ukrainians secured their flanks and gained some room for maneuver. But they also did not stop there and continued to widen the bridgehead.

Today, Ukrainian fighters from the 71st Brigade released a video showing how they were repelling a Russian counterattack after they successfully captured and cleared one more Russian trench network. Ukrainians managed to rebuff the attack and retain control over the newly captured positions, continuing the gradual but steady movement forward.

Other Ukrainian fighters released a video where they tested a prototype of an anti-personnel mine-clearing drone. This drone would be useful for clearing the newly captured area from mines, especially the trails, to avoid losses when moving between friendly positions.

Ukrainian drone operators published a video showing how they are conducting artillery preparation on the remaining section of the Russian defense line. The attacks imply that Ukrainians will continue conducting broad attacks to make sure to fix Russian troops along the front before penetrating the main direction.

TODAY, Ukrainian drone operators also spotted a whole platoon of Russian tanks on the Ukrainian flanks. At first glance, it seemed like Russians were preparing for a heavy counterattack, however, when the drone operator zoomed in, he revealed that these were inflatable balloons in the form of tanks. As it turned out, Russian forces tried to create a semblance of readiness and possibly force Ukrainians to relocate additional forces to protect their flanks instead of pushing Russians out of Verbove.

Some analysts claimed that the goal was to make Ukrainians use up their shells on false targets, but in this case, Russians did not put any effort into masking them in a believable enough way and just put them in the open so that Ukrainian reconnaissance teams notice them as soon as possible, and raise a false alarm. Unfortunately for Russians, it was a waste of time.

In the meantime, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky finally confirmed that Abrams tanks arrived in Ukraine. He said that the Defense Ministry had already received the tanks and was preparing them for reinforcing brigades that are conducting the counteroffensive operation. And the modern western tanks make a huge difference on the front due to their advanced guns that have a range of 4 km, which allows these tanks to act like snipers.

If a Ukrainian assault team faces difficulties with a particular fortification, it takes the tank about 8 minutes at maximum speed to get to the firing position and unload dozens of high-explosive shells while still being multiple km away from the target, minimizing the chances of getting detected. And this tactic proved to work, as the defenses are gradually breached, while losses of these tanks were reduced almost to zero.

There is apparently a small village in Ukraine called New York. Niu-York in proper Ukrainian transliteration it seems. It is in the vicinity of Bakhmut.

There is a story there for sure, but it seems to have been lost. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York,_Ukraine

“Biden and Pelosi backs Ukraine. They certainly aren’t friends of liberty, as most of DC aren’t. We’re not the good guys anymore, okay? Go back to bed old man, this is a kids’ zone.”

Nice try, kid. The United States is a friend of liberty; regardless what its current government says or does. Because, son, the government is NOT the country: The country is the Constitution and the republic it established.

“Go back to bed old man, this is a kids’ zone.”

You have just confirmed my assessment that you are indeed a kid.

“I pray God brings Ukraine to its knees and forces Zelensky to surrender.”

Well, you have just said that Russia can’t defeat Ukraine, and thus you are calling upon God to do Russia’s dirty work. Can you be any more obvious as to your allegiance?

I guess the russians assume everyone is as stupid as they are:

“TODAY, Ukrainian drone operators also spotted a whole platoon of Russian tanks on the Ukrainian flanks. A modest note: I received an e-mail back from Pietro Bomprezzi @ the Ukraine Support Tracker website. He confirms my suspicion that in the chart that shows support committed (not necessarily sent yet, in fact quite a bit is not yet actually sent, and will likely stretch into 2024) as a % of a country’s GDP, that figure is calculated from total aid committed in the numerator, divided by the country’s GDP in the denominator.

However, the GDP figure is from 2021. That creates a “%” where the numerator covers more than one year, and possibly over 2 years, while the GDP is a one year figure. Obviously this overstates the case. Since it applies to all countries the Support Tracker lists, it is still a reasonable comparison of the various countries relative efforts, with the US definitely “mid-pack”. But, as a measure of the burden to any one country, the time period for both the numerator and denominator should be the same, even if the GDP figure becomes a bit more of an estimate.

Re-running the numbers produces a per year cost of support to Ukraine from the USA of around 0.22% of GDP, or 0.0022 times GDP. Subtract old weapons having already been paid for, and we likely save scrapping costs on some, and that figure is probably a bit under 0.20% of US GDP.

What in hell are you babbling about?

Russia has already won the war. The 40,000 square miles of territory the Russians have liberated and annexed comprised 70-80% of Ukraine's GDP. The Russians built a land bridge from mainland Russia to Crimea. The Russians control almost all of the Black Sea coastline (and will eventually take every inch of it if Ukraine doesn't surrender).

But, all those losses and more than 400,000 dead and you're still trying to spin it as a Ukraine win.

You're a fool.

“Russia has already won the war.”

Nice try, tovarishch.

If Russia has already won the war, then why are you praying to God for HIM to bring Ukraine to its knees and force Ukraine to surrender? You contradict yourself (which you commonly do).

“But, all those losses and more than 400,000 dead and you’re still trying to spin it as a Ukraine win.”

Again, nice try. I do not spin anything. I am on record here on FR since at least March, 2022 saying that Russia will likely win the war but lose the peace. And, your “more than 400,000 dead” is pure hyperbole. That 400,000 figure is for total CASUALTIES, not total DEAD. And a general rule of thumb for armed conflicts is a 3:1 ratio of wounded to killed. So, employing that standard gives us a ratio of about 300,000 wounded to 100,000 killed, which is far closer to reality than your “more than 400,000 dead.”

“You’re a fool.”

You’re the fool, kid.

I watched many hours of television produced both by the MSM and people who were photographing from inside the “protest”. This TV included views, some close-up, of the protesters who were smashing in the windows, bear spraying the police, and stabbing them with the pointed ends of flag staffs. There were something like 150 members of the Capitol Police who were injured, including several who died or committed suicide within a few days of the “protest.” No doubt there was a fair amount of video and still shots posted at Facebook and Twitter by participants.

Thus I think it is quite likely the legal authorities had planty of visible evidence of wrongdoing and misbehavior to select from. This does not even include a fair bit of evidence that was apparently to be found with internet information like emails and others forms of communication and planning. Therefore, they probably have fairly well documented cases on many who may have been or are being imprisioned for more than a few initial arrest days.

Living near DC and having experienced the craziness after Martin Luther King was assassinated, I was very worried about what could have happened on Jan. 6 that would have been even far worse than what actually did happen. When the cities were burning after King’s death, we left the area for a few days. ON Jan. 6, I made sure my pistol was loaded and the box of shells close at hand.

I also saw video of plenty of people who seemed to just be standing around and looking, or who later just seemed to be walking through the halls of Congress (simple trespass violation) but not breaking anything or picking up anything. Some of them might have been picked up on initial security sweeps, but unless more serious violations were provable probably spent little or no time at all in jail. DC Police (not to be confused with Capitol Police) have learned to be pretty careful about making unnecessary arrests. I was once in downtown DC observing the action (vandalizing cars, burning trash cans), etc. when the police had herded a group of about 20 men and women into a corner and arrested them all. Some of the men wore business attire, and some women had beige camel hair winter coats, not your typical rioters. I had also seen individuals or small groups dressed in all black and faces covered. At any rate the big, costly lawsuit filed by people who were wrongly arrested that day has been carefully noted by DC Police in recent years and affected their crowd control behavior.

I feel quite sure that if Russians had behaved in a similar manner that Putin would have told the police to shoot anyone who needed shooting, which would have been dozens or more, like the protesters in Tien an Men Square in China (sp?), some of whom were crushed by tanks while unarmed. That night I was sitting talking with a man who was in tears over the fact his friends were being killed in China for unarmed protests.

It’s probably a group of people working a propaganda mill. No single person could possibly poy15 replies in 3 minutes.

And I notice patterns.

I see a finger-wagging post, followed by multiple posts from the flying monkeys. Almost as if they were summoned.

Strange how the finger-wagging posts quote Jim, but they always leave out this crucial part. Every time.

”We are conservatives. Be respectful to your debate adversary (fellow FReeper). For example, do not accuse them of being a "Putinista", "comrade", "murderer", "baby-killer", etc, just because he may have a difference of opinion whether or not the US government should be involved in a controversial foreign war where we were not attacked.” -Jim Robinson
