The wife of Rep. Jeff Duncan, R-S.C., has filed for divorce, alleging he had at least one affair during their marriage.
In the Friday filing at a courthouse in Laurens County, Melody Duncan, who has three adult children with the congressman, accused her husband of having multiple extramarital affairs and leaving their home to live with another woman.
Duncan, who touts himself online as a "strong advocate for life and traditional family values," has been married to Melody since December 1988.
The filing, which came around noon on Friday, listed Duncan's paramour as Liz Williams, who is reportedly a lobbyist in the Washington, D.C. area.

Think he could have been targeted for compromise by the commies/DS in DC?
And that explains why you’ve incorrectly tried to use the passage in 1 Corinthians to justify your position.
Marriage is a covenant. If a spouse has left the marriage within the home, youre not obligated to stay. A spouse who has made themselves absent within the marriage is an abusive spouse.
Nope. Not within the context of 1 Corinthians. You’re reading something into the passage that’s not there to justify your answer.
Im justifying it under the obligations of being a spouse. If you dont want to be one, the other partner is free to not be one either.
If you want to be a spouse, be one. Or let them go their way.
Im fine in my position.

So, the motivation for sexual cheating is obvious. Sex is fun. Less clear to me are men that do this whole second relationship thing. That sounds incredibly draining.
ah i get it you think he’s not getting “enough” sex.
With him, maybe not. However, for many men, they are abandoned within the marriage. Women often will trap beta men in marriages through lots of attention that leads up to the marriage and then effectively abandon them within the marriage. When that happens, I have absolutely no problem with him divorcing her. My position is the same if it was thecreverse, because I know that happens as well.
Thanks for your comments.
I agree with you that adultery is sinful and wrong but that wasn’t the point of my post. I was just pointing out that Mr. Duncan got 97.6 percent of the vote in a general election. While it’s not unusual for a politician to get 100 percent of the vote in a primary election, it’s extremely rare for anyone to get over 97 percent in a general election.

He’s been in congress for 12 years but I had never heard of him. His voting record is superb.

He’s a real estate broker and an auctioneer and he looks like John Solomon.

I just found the story fascinating. That’s all.
okay got it.
she may feel like he abandoned her as he chases his ego to Washington DC.
Yes, maybe. If he is living in Washington and doing to stay in contact with her, I wouldnt blame him for divorcing him.
Adultery is premeditated treachery. Worst thing for society is treacherous politicians regardless of (R) or (D) tags. Is this cheater a “family values” Republican Rep?

3Some Pharisees came to Jesus, testing Him and asking, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason at all?”
4And He answered and said, “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE, 5and said, ‘FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH’?
6“So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”
7They said to Him, “Why then did Moses command to GIVE HER A CERTIFICATE OF DIVORCE AND SEND her AWAY?” 8He said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses permitted you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been this way.
9“And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.”
Matthew 19:3-9 NASB
In other words, men should avoid marriage like the plague it is, because there is absolutely nothing in it for them but lifelong suffering. They ate screwed no matter what choice they make. Better off to live the single life, because women are not worth the effort.
That is the argumentnthe lifelong, no benefit, marriage freeper advocates are making.
I completely agree. If there is nothing worth it in marriage for men, dont bother. The women can choose to be alone or concubines. It is all the same.
Enjoyed the chat. Have a good one.
I find that American Christians dont necessarily have a good understanding of what the Bible does teach. God does not teach to stay married, even if every day is highly abusive. I dont think keeping God’s commands should result in an early death for anybody.
I would maintain that there is some misunderstanding of what God wants.
“He did the ****king, now he’s gonna get **cked.”
Yep. It’s gonna be expensive for him. I wonder if the new “piece” will stick around long once she realizes that most of his assets and future income will pretty much belong to the ex. He is going to be spending a lot of money on attorney’s fees, alimony, and child support for the next few years.
I wonder if five years from now he will still think she was worth it?
This past Monday, I lost my wife of 55 year to a horrific battle with Large B Cell Double Hit Non- Hodgkins Lymphoma. I would give anything to hug her again.
Some people don’t appreciate what they have until it’s gone forever.
