Even the people are standing against Putin. Some top-brass oppose Putin’s invasion. Some of Russian military troops actually are refusing to fight even after sent & are within Ukraine.
Once again our MSM does not possess any moral compass to report information. Basically, MSM now only covers the evil being perpetrated against President Trump.
I disagree that we’re not in a unique time. Before the advent of technology (even beginning with the telegraph), we could live our entire lives without being aware what was going on elsewhere (be it a distant nation, or even in a neighboring village). Now we can learn what is going on anywhere (well, media-approved) at the touch of a button.
Satan’s fingerprints are all over the 20th century, arguably the most bloodthirsty and evil century in recorded history. The cultural decay and rejection of God has increased dramatically in my lifetime. The embrace of sin, of self, of darkness seems to know no limits. It has been elevated to being the new religion (Sodomite flags flying on churches, blasphemous evil). God may win out in the end, but the damage the forces of darkness can do, along with its countless adherents in powerful positions, in the interim is of unfathomable magnitude.
True, they were like the King of Kings (not Jesus, of course). Now, they can merely inflict maximum damage to the church and faithful by embracing anti-Christian/Satanic ideology and appointing Sodomite reprobates to the highest positions of the church within. A friend of mine whose local priest who acted out against the evil Sodomite agenda was punished for doing so. They’re aiding and abetting this abomination.
The evils of the 20th century were a matter of scale, which was a consequence of technology. Earlier times had quite as much malice, terror, bloodshed, insanity, cruelty and sin. Part of the scale effect was simply that more people were vulnerable because populations had greatly increased (technology), organization was easier (technology), weapons were more effective, etc on top of etc.
I am much more sanguine about modernity. We could still use the inquisition of course.
Please note Comment# 50 & #53 reveals total Russian combat losses between February 24, 2022 and September 19, 2022. Ukraine has continued to persevered with more and less military supplies. The Euros have sent a LOT more financial aid than the US. Most of the US aid is in the form of weapons.
Of the pricier weapons the Euro’s do send, quite a few then get backfilled with newer, more expensive US weapons’ purchases. So, a pretty good chunk of money ends up back in the US.
I assume your concern about the costs is reflected by a proportionate number of posts regarding Biden’s proposed almost 7 trillion dollar budget.

Humanity sins. Since Adam accused Eve, Eve accused Satan & ultimately in Gen. 4: 9 the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” And he said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?” we deny our sin of rejecting responsible and accountable action.
Pondering the earlier discussion reminded me of Isaiah 5 19-23:
