We raised a baby squirrel once that our cat nearly killed but didn’t. Nursed him back to health in a cage, and then when he was old enough, let him go off into the woods near our home. We didn’t take him shopping with us. He stayed in the screened in porch until he was big enough for the outdoors, just a couple of months.
