After the failure of the much-hyped Summer offensive of the Ukrainian forces, with as much as 70k human losses in a little over 3 months, Kiev has ramped up dramatically the efforts to forcibly conscript every able-bodied male – and some not so able – and are starting with Medical Women, too.

At the same time, Kiev tries to cripple the many gangs that are selling a most valuable service, righht now: help to evade mobilization.

I was in tech school in Texas.

Mainly anger at why we didn’t nuke somebody yet.

When I completed schooling and got to duty in Florida, the base had A1A shutdown and controlled via Security Forces personnel.(Patrick AFB)

I won my permanent deferment from the draft and then enlisted in the Army, I had my own ways of doing things, and I only respected people doing things out of principle, not fear or cowardice which is why I despised the guys who would flee the country.

Shoulda called the FBI. Back then they did go after Canada-runners sometimes.

Funny thing is that today, amongst my peer group (people in their 70s), I can find no one who didn’t support the troops. No one who dodged the draft. Funny how that works. They all say they supported the troops. That’s not how I remember it when I got discharged in 1971 and the war was still raging.
