a title with just a vin number is
not possible without a lengthy
process involving vin verification
through state police via NCIS.
They also check for vin plate
tampering, right down to the types
of rivets used to attach the tag to
the body. Even the font on the tag
is proprietary.
There are “secret” locations on
the car’s body and frame where the
vin is stamped.
I’ve had a vehicle title issued with
just the vin. It’s a tedious process
that takes close to a year, and only
a bonded title was issued upon
approval. I doubt car thieves have
this long to wait.
