So, if I’m reading the chart right, AF1 is flying a rectangular pattern at 925 feet? That’s only slightly higher than a typical approach pattern. Can’t tell where the strip might be but is does look like someone practicing. Is this the school where the 9-11 arabs learned how to fly, skipping t/o’s and landings? So, how much money did Humper get for arranging the flight lessons?
This is the first time I’ve observed the AF1 callsign over the US.
The Military Command assigns callsigns.
Protocol is that AF1 is assigned to any plane POTUS is on.
The lack of that callsign means, to many planefags, that the military does not recognize Joe as C-in-C.
Joe Biden was not on this plane so, why the callsign and, other than flight crew, who was there?
Your reading is correct but there was a considerable LACK of visible observations reported.
At ~1000 feet, it would have been obvious to viewers on the ground yet no one was clamoring that they saw air force one hovering over their location.
Folks could have waved at the air crew from the ground!
Middleton ain’t no hick-town, either.
I think the best explanation is the one I gave above...the E-4B (flying air command) was making magic.
It probably wasn’t an executive stable plane and the E-4B was altering signals to make whatever that plane was to broadcast as AF1 and show a radar silhouette as a 747-200.
Again, they wanted us to see this.
They wanted us to know they had this capability.
To me, this is comms from WH.
“POTUS will be safe aboard air force 1”, etc.
