Ukrainian forces continue to make small advances on the southern axis. Today, Kiev announced the liberation of more than a dozen villages in Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk oblasts. Geolocated images show how Kiev forces advanced east of the village of Novoprokopivka, about four miles south of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. Meanwhile, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirmed for the first time that Ukrainian troops gained positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River last week.
Ilya Yevlash, spokesman for the Ukrainian General Staff and the Ukrainian Eastern Forces Group, said Kiev had also achieved an unspecified success near Klishchiivka, six miles south of Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast. Ukrainian fighters are not letting anything dampen their spirits. While Ukrainian forces are making success after success on the front line, the Russian Federation has faced various difficulties since the beginning of the war. Since it has created all these problems with its own hands, Russia has not been able to easily ask for help.
The most obvious one was the failure of the Russian air defense to stop drones targeting military installations and airfields in Russian cities. Since May, Russian air defense has failed to protect key cities such as Moscow, St Petersburg, Byriansk, Belgorod, Pskov, Kursk, Rostov and Krasnador. Russia had brought the war home with its brutal attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure in Ukrainian cities. This was bound to backfire and it has. As you may recall, in recent weeks, military airfields in several Russian cities have been subjected to a series of airstrikes. The airstrikes targeted Russian fighter jets and heavy bombers.
In the last week of August, 9 Russian fighter jets were destroyed in a 3-day wave of attacks. There had to be a price for this. The Kremlin had to find an excuse for this failure and present a reality to its people. Accordingly, yesterday, Russia’s media was awash with news. The morning in Russia began with the announcement of an arrest. An very significant arrest warrant was issued by the military court that serves the Moscow garrison. An arrest warrant has been issued for Major General Konstantin Ogienko, who is the commander of the 1st Special Purpose Air Defense and Missile Defense Army of the Russian Armed Forces.
Bribery is one of the primary reasons that Ogienko was taken into custody. It was alleged that this arrest took place with the assistance of sources from the military tribunals in Moscow as well as the 235th garrison. In point of fact, the military court gave the order to arrest the general at the beginning of August. However, this judgment was not made public until quite recently. And Ogienko is being held in jail at this time. In addition, Ogienko’s incarceration has been prolonged until the 27th of November. According to the findings of the preliminary investigation, the major general used the power that came with his office to coerce a civilian into giving him money.
Investigators claim that Konstantin Ogienko, the commander of a military unit located in the Moscow region, received 500,000 rubles from one of his subordinates. This is merely a portion of the bribery scheme that is alleged to reach 30 million rubles. General Ogienko made a proposal to the head of the public organization known as “Nadezhda” to provide his assistance in transferring ownership of a piece of land that is close to the military unit. Dmitry Byalyatsky,
Ogienko’s deputy and the leader of the military unit, was taken into custody around a month before this occurrence. He agreed to the terms of the pre-trial agreement, which stated that the other parties involved in the case would provide explanations for their illegal conduct. Byalyatsky also entered a guilty plea for his role in the crime and admitted that he was paid 500,000 rubles for his participation. Byalyatsky provided testimony that was used against Ogienko, who reached a compromise with investigators that allowed him to plead not guilty.
Byalyatsky was at first placed under arrest. However, at a later point in time the conditions of detention were altered to include home arrest. This was the first installment of a bribery plot worth 30 million rubles, in which the Russian military was to be bribed in order to allot property for development in areas such as Dolgoprudny and the town of Lobnya. In light of recent developments, Konstantin Ogienko has not entered a guilty plea to any of the allegations.

I had a phone call with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. Restrictive measures against our agricultural exports by the European Union have been cancelled. Now, it is important that European unity works on a bilateral level – with the neighbors. That the neighbors would support Ukraine during the war. Europe always wins when treaties work and promises are kept. Well, if the neighbors’ decisions are not neighborly, Ukraine will respond civilly.
I held a lengthy meeting with government officials and the Office regarding our further tactics in protecting our agreements and free trade with the EU. By helping each other and safeguarding our shared freedom in Europe, especially economic freedom, we strengthen everyone in Europe. And this is particularly important now in the face of the genocidal aggression unleashed by Russia.
I held a new meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff today. First and foremost is the front. Commander-in-Chief Zaluzhny, commanders – reports on the situation in the main directions.

Today, on the eve of the Rescuer’s Day, I congratulated the team of Ukraine’s State Emergency Service and thanked them for their courageous and selfless work. I took part in awarding laureates of the Ukrainian action “Hero – Rescuer of the Year”. And this event is much more than one of the official events. Our gratitude to the employees of the State Emergency Service. Every state and departmental award for rescuers is a reflection of the fact that people’s lives are protected.
I had a meeting with Karim Khan, Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.
We talked about the approach of justice for Ukraine and for all people who suffered from Russian war crimes.
The responsibility must be clear, concrete, completely fair – just like the warrant for Putin’s arrest issued by the International Criminal Court. What the Russian dictator was really afraid of. And now, he tries not to leave Russia, because the force of law exists, and it is strong. And the world has every opportunity for the law to overcome the aggression of the bandit force.
We are preparing for important international events scheduled for the second half of September. I had several long meetings about this today. We are doing everything to ensure that there are significant results for Ukraine – both in new defense packages from partners and in the decisions of international institutions.
We also work to strengthen Ukraine’s institutions, for the ability of our state to finally destroy oligarchic and corrupt influences. Influences that, in particular, Russia used for so long to weaken Ukraine, to constantly “eat away” the sovereignty of our state.
Today, I held a broad and meaningful meeting with representatives of law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the government, and the Office. We are preparing conceptual steps that will give Ukraine and our entire society more justice, and democracy in our state – guaranteed sustainability.

I congratulate everyone who is celebrating, and I wish the next year will be peaceful – finally peaceful for all of Ukraine, for all our people. BACKGROUND:
The Security Service of Ukraine put Kadyrov on the wanted list in September last year. He is wanted under Article 110.3 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, which led to the death of people or other serious consequences) and Article 437.2 (planning, preparation, unleashing and waging an aggressive war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Kadyrov faces from 10 years to life imprisonment under these articles.

On the instructions of the President of Ukraine, Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak held the eighth meeting with representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in our country regarding the implementation of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula.
The event was devoted to the implementation of the sixth point of the Formula “Withdrawal of Russian troops and cessation of hostilities.” Representatives of over 70 foreign states participated in the discussion, which took place on the territory of the Antonov airport in Hostomel.
Ambassadors and diplomatic representatives had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the consequences of the attacks of the Russian troops on the airport, inspect the destruction of the office premises of the Antonov State Enterprise, hangars, and see with their own eyes the hangar and the remains of the legendary An-225 Mriya aircraft.
Congratulating those present, Yermak emphasized that the sixth point of the Peace Formula is being discussed in the place where one of the most important battles of this war took place in the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine – the battle for Kyiv.
“On February 24 last year, the battle for the capital of Ukraine began here. Here the myth about the invincibility of the Russian army was shattered. Here, the Kremlin’s ambitions to “take Kyiv in three days” were dispelled. And here, during five weeks of occupation, the “Russian peace” showed its true essence: robbery, torture, mass murders,” the head of the Office of the President said.
He said that thanks to Ukrainian warriors, this place became truly heroic.
“We had a unique “Mriya.” It evoked wonder and admiration from the entire world. It brought goodness, delivered goods to the most remote corners of the planet. The aggressor destroyed this Ukraine’s symbol. But even its remnants, which you see here, have become a new symbol of our resistance. And I am confident that in the future they will become a symbol of recovery,” Yermak added.
At the same time, the head of the President’s Office said: with the loss of the “Mriya,” Ukrainians have achieved a goal – a just and lasting peace, which, according to Yermak, is possible only when Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity is restored and the armed formations of the aggressor are withdrawn from our territory.
The head of the President’s Office emphasized: the withdrawal of troops is a mandatory condition for peace, and any other options are unacceptable, as they can lead to a prolongation of the war.
“Since 2014, Russia has been using the temporarily occupied territories to expand its aggression against Ukraine, causing severe humanitarian consequences and civilian casualties, massive migration flows and artificially altering the national and ethnic composition of these territories. Therefore, ceasing fire and freezing the conflict without the liberation of all Ukrainian territories is an obviously unacceptable scenario. It will only contribute to the preservation of the criminal regime in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and create conditions for the continuation of the war,” he said.
The head of the Office of the President also said that the defense forces will continue to do everything to knock out the aggressor from Ukraine, and the success of our fighters is the key factor in restoring the territorial integrity of the state.
“Restoring Ukraine’s territorial integrity without turning the war into a frozen conflict will determine global security for decades to come. This can serve as a universal mechanism for ending international armed conflicts in the future. The relevant instruments implemented in the context of the war in Ukraine can potentially become universal and be reflected in United Nations General Assembly resolutions,” Yermak is convinced.
He urged those present to work on these mechanisms and noted that he expects fruitful results from today’s meeting.
In particular, a representative of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense spoke about the defense of Hostomel and the impact of these events on the further success of defending the Ukrainian capital.
Deputy Head of the President’s Office Roman Mashovets informed about the current situation at the front, namely about the counteroffensive actions of the defense forces in each of the operational directions.
Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov focused the attention of the participants on the specifics of the military and political aspects of the implementation of the Peace Formula.
Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavliuk familiarized the event participants with the details of the operation of the newly created working group, responsible for the implementation of the sixth point of the Peace Formula “Withdrawal of Russian troops and cessation of hostilities.”
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov outlined the key aspects of the global context of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
The Ukrainian side called on representatives of foreign states not only to work together to end the war in our country, but also to join forces to create new security mechanisms. The need for further support for the Ukrainian military, strengthening our air defense and creating conditions for Ukrainian dominance in the sky was also emphasized.
